The Leaf Mystery

When I finally got home, the first thing I wanted to do was check on Jasper but he and Alice weren't home. Esme said they went out together to hunt and relax. I think they were probably trying to get far away from town as possible. Everyone in town was worried about a rabid animal on the loose and sad that Chris might not make it. Jasper, being able to feel emotions, must be having a personal crisis of his own. I know I would be.

A few of us waited around for Carlisle to get home from the hospital. Jacob, me, Mom, and Dad. We wanted to know if he knew anything about Chris's health condition.

"His friends brought him in this morning at two a.m. They said they were at the south side of the White Mountains National forest." Carlisle explained.

"That's near our border." Jacob thought out loud.

Carlisle nodded.

As they continued to talk about what could have attacked Chris, I just sat off to the side and thought about things. This was only my first week of high school and so far I have had a bully bullying me, got into a fight with the bully, had a heart to heart with the bully and now a fellow student might die. This was drama central. As I continued to ponder things, Dad heard my thoughts on all the drama and sat down next to me.

"Yes, all high schools have some type of drama." He answered my unspoken question.

I just nodded. He was remembering his time at Forks high school after he met Mom and when the red headed vampire was after Mom. To him, that was major drama as well.

Almost an hour later, it was decided that the guys would run to the area where Chris was mauled and sniff around to see if they could find the mauling animal. Kelton and Bradey were the most excited. I didn't want to go so I did my homework within a few minutes of their departure. The curriculum was too easy for me. After spending some time with everyone else at the main house, Mom and I went to her and Dad's cottage. I loved the fact that it was an exact replica of their cottage back in Forks. It almost made me a little homesick. I missed Grandpaw Charlie and Sue. Not to mention the rest of our extended family everywhere.

Mom talked about how she was enjoying Dartmouth while I looked over her books. I found that even though it was easy it was still interesting enough to do. Not at all like the simpleness of the high school curriculum I was doing now. I will diffinately go to College once I was done with highschool.

As we had our Mother daughter time, her cell rang. After answering it she looked up to me with wide eyes as someone on the other end told her they found something odd and for us to meet them at the main house. It was Alice.

With Alice saying she found something odd and for us to meet her, we knew something was wrong. Mom and I didn't wait around, instead we ran right over to the main house. The guys were called also and were on their way back.

"Alice, what did you find?" My Mom asked a pacing Alice.

She had what looked like an a brown autumn leaf in her hand that she held gently. "Let's wait for the guys to get here." She said in a cut off tone when she saw Esme pulling up the drive.

Esme didn't bother to park in the garage and ran right on in. She too began to pace around the family room after Alice told her we were waiting on the guys to return. Jasper looked like a zombie on drugs, all fidgety and zoned out like he had a massive headache. Which by the way to him it felt that way with the massive intake of emotions from town. He literaly felt ill but was slowly, very slowly, coming back to normal as the emotions in town began to calm down. Like they had new news of something that made them feel better and more calm. I could sense this and it not only had Jasper puzzled but me as well.
