It had been four generations now. The day; a nice sunny blue summer day with only a few of those fluffy white clouds, and a lone white bird. A huge thing built of composite fibers and nearly silent save a low humming sound. It came out of the clouds and went unnoticed at this point. Now the only thing that kept it company were the few natural birds and the sound of the wind. Turning its gaze to the ground; it searched for its target, and after some time this soaring predator located it's prey.

The ruins of a city stretching below; some thousand feet below, and the beast began to catalog everything it saw. This being a port city is the reason for this bird being here. It's mission was simple; where best to put the first "Boots on the ground" in four generations, and to a assess the general population if any. The city below look like it had been through an atomic war; even though no such event had taken place. Many of the taller buildings had fallen due to neglect, and what still stood were in their last days. The Water Front was in such disrepair that easy access would be difficult at best.

Being a neutral observer this bird showed no emotions as it took everything in. Wooden structures and piers didn't appear safe for a human to stand on or live in. What had been large metal ships were now nothing but huge pieces of rust; although still one could tell that it once had been a large ship. The harbor's water was this brown sludge, and was choked with debris.

Heading west; more abandoned buildings was the norm. Buildings were falling apart; windows had long ago fallen and crashed onto the streets below. This lone observer did find signs of life; in numbers vastly smaller than what once had lived in this city, and countless wild animals roaming the streets. The city proper appeared to be split; with tiny enclaves now being the norm. This special envoy took this all in and after hours of data collecting completed its given task. Our friend; high in the sky, now turns north. Arching skyward re-enters a cloud, and vanishes - never to be seen again.
