PLAINSVILLE HIGH CLASS OF '05 TEN YEAR REUNION:

Harry hadn't seen Summer in ten years. She'd sent him a few messages after he left telling him that she hated him for leaving like that, for not saying goodbye. But he did say goodbye to her, she just didn't realize it.

He didn't bother trying to talk to her after that because Summer hardly said things that she didn't mean and he needed to let her go. She never tried talking to him either.

When he'd received the letter about the reunion, he was a little surprised because he never actually graduated from Plainsville High, he graduated in London with people that he hardly knew.

Aaron and Michael kept in contact with him, but Harry was still devastated over the fact that Summer said she hated him. The girl that he gave all of his attention to for the ten years that he was in that small town said that she hated him, all because she thought he'd left without saying goodbye to her.

Harry tried to move on multiple times, but all of his relationships sort of crumbled into dust after a little while because he hadn't felt the affection for those women like he had felt for Summer. Aaron had kept his promise, but Harry wished that he hadn't because maybe, just maybe, if he had told Summer that he was the one leaving her love letters, she wouldn't hate him.

She was still friends with Aaron and Michael, that he learned from each of them on more than one occasion. He stopped asking how she was doing after the second time because she was horribly mad at him and he could hear her in the background telling them to tell him to fuck off.

It took him five days to make a decision on whether he was going to attend the reunion or not. In the end, he decided that he would go. He wanted to see his friends in person again, even if Summer still hated him, and he wanted to finally tell Summer the truth.

Aaron was kind enough to give him her address and he sent her one last letter before they would meet again at the reunion. He didn't explain much, but he did profusely tell her how sorry he was and that he still loved her, even if it didn't matter to her anymore.

Harry told her that he hoped that she would go too, so that he could come clean and tell her who he was. He wasn't expecting a reply, he hadn't added a return address and he trusted Aaron not to give her one, since he'd been holding on to his secret for all these years.

Two weeks later and he was on a plane, headed back to the town and to the girl that he'd left behind.

. . .

Summer stood by the refreshment table, her eyes scanning the room for Harry. She had no idea if he was going to show up or not, but she was hoping that he would so that she could apologize. After he left, she'd sent him a horrible set of messages telling him in explicit detail how much she hated him for leaving, how much she hated him for not saying goodbye.

A few months later, she realized that she didn't hate him at all, but he'd changed his number and set his Facebook to private. Michael and Aaron talked to him still, but she knew that they wouldn't have given her his number, even if she asked nicely.

Now she stood there, alone, just hoping that he would show up so that she could make things right with him. Except, she was only paying attention to the room around her, not the people that filtered by her.

Harry had been standing beside her and trying to figure out what to say to her for ten minutes. She looked just like she did when he left, the only difference was that she looked more like a woman and less like a teenager.

He cleared his throat nervously to get her attention and smiled softly when she turned to face him. Summer's eyes widened slightly. Harry had changed so much since she'd seen him last. His hair was much longer, his jaw more defined, and he'd grown into his lanky frame and filled it in with nice muscles, from the looks of it anyway, she couldn't exactly see through his clothes.
