Saturday Bailey and I head over to my parents to color Easter eggs. My sister Lucy is home from college and I'm so excited to see her. I know she'd much rather be in Cabo partying with her friends, but I'm so grateful she's home.
"We're here!"
I yell as Bailey and I enter the house. Lucy peeks her head around the corner and shouts "Boo!" in Bailey's face.
Bailey jumps and screams then immediately wraps her arms around Lucy's neck. I forgo waiting my turn and dive in for a group hug. I've missed my sister. This is the first time I'll see mad dad since the towel incident with Alex. I'm not eager to face him. The three of us head into the kitchen and my parents are sitting at the table. Bailey runs over to my mom and gives her a huge hug and hops onto her lap. I walk over to my dad.
"Hi dad."
"Hey kiddo."
"We ok?"
"Yeah, just don't put me, or her through that again."
My dad says while he looks to Bailey.
"I don't plan to." I hug my dad and he holds me tightly.
I would have loved to yell at him. I would have loved an apology from him for having such a low opion of me and not giving me the benefit of the doubt. But, I'll take what I can get. A truce. We're ok.
Eggs are spread across the table while we all gab about Lucy. She lights up with stories from the dorms, about mischievous drunk boys getting lost and in turn getting in big trouble. My dad isn't to pleased about that, but Lucy does her best to calm him down with talks of her responsible RA. We're finishing up and Lucy asks if she can stay the night with me. I'm thrilled at the idea of spending the night with my little sister. Once we're home we put Bailey to sleep with stories of our childhood and go back out to the living room. I pull out a bottle of wine and two glasses. Lucy's eyes bulge when she sees the glasses.
"Oh come on, you're 20. I may be your older sister but not that much older. I remember the kind of stuff I did at your age."
Lucy laughs and sighs, "All right, if you insist."
I'm pouring the wine debating wether to ask my sister about possible love interests or the wildest thing she's done while away. She beats me to the punch.
"So, tell me about this Alex guy mom couldn't shut up about on the way home from the airport."
My jaw drops.
"What? What did she say?"
"That he's hot and mysterious, and she's not sure she trusts him."
"Of jeez." I chuckle at the idea of mom describing the situation.
"Yeah, and that you hadn't said anything about him for two weeks. She went on and on about how it's her 'maternal right' to know what's going on. So, now that she's gone..."
"Spill the beans?"
"Well...yeah."
"I don't even know where to start."
"Where'd you guys meet?"
"At the studio, he came in to see if he wanted to shoot his movie there."
"Wait, movie?"
"Yeah, mom didn't mention that?"
"Nope, she was too worried about how things had progressed since dad found him flinging his dick around here."
"Oh my God, he had a towel on!"
Lucy laughs at me.
"She seriously couldn't talk about anything else, I tried to get her off the topic because I could see how pissed dad was getting. But nope, that's all she could focus on."
