Monday, March 1

I can't believe there's a new girl at Westchster Country Day!  And she was definitely not what I was expecting, but then again, I'm getting ahead of myself.

"Wake up!  Wake up!  Wake up!  Nikki, wake up!  WAKE UUUUUUP!"

Thump.  Thump.  Thump.  With each bounce, I could hear my bed creaking and moaning as to why it was being abused this way.  "BRIANNA!!!  GET OFF OF MY BED!!!  MOOOOMMM!!!" I buried my head deeper into my comforters and tried to get a couple of extra z's.

"C'mon, Nikki," I heard my mom's cheerful voice chirp through my comfy blanket.  "It's Monday, meaning a whole new week to begin!"

Ugh.  Mondays.  Always bringing sadness to the week.  It's so annoying.  I finally got up, groaning, and rubbed my eyes, glancing at the clock.

Wait a minute, was that clock right?  Shoot!  It was literally half an hour before school starts!  I quickly changed and ran downstairs, eating a quick breakfast.  Right as I was heading out, my dad called out, "Hey, I'm taking you two to school in the van, remember?"

No!!!  NOT THE ROACH VAN!!!  Why must life hate me so?

"Dad, can you please hurry up?!" I anxiously stared out the window as we drove to school.  I was humiliated.  Seriously, that roach was so annoying, and I was so embarrassed.  I didn't want to be late today, especially since Zoey and Chloe wanted to tell me something important.

The light finally turned green, and my dad grinned as he turned the wheel.  "Don't worry!  I'll get you there on time!"  He started speeding down the street.

"Oh my gosh, DAD!  WE'RE GOING TO CRASH!?!" I gripped onto the arm rests, but Brianna seemed like she was enjoying it.  She and Miss Penelope were having a whole conversation the whole time.

"Please fasten your seatbelts, because this is a bullet train in Italy.  The fastest train in the world, it can reach up to speeds of 100,000 miles per minute!" Miss Penelope was informing Brianna.

"The bullet train is in Japan!" I corrected her, my face pale.  "And it's not that fast!"  But at the moment, it did feel like a bullet train.  A COCKROACH BULLET TRAIN.

Suddenly, Brianna screamed, "Watch out, Daddy!"

He slammed on the brakes, just in time, because there was someone who had leaped back.  Dad had driven up the curb and almost hit someone.  "Oh my gosh, are you all right?" I got out of the van quickly to go see who it was.

A girl around my age was sitting on the sidewalk, as if she had just fallen over.  "Haha," she shakily laughed, "Man, that was extreme..."  She was a petit girl, and it seemed that Dad had missed her, but she looked a bit shaken.  She rubbed the back of her head a bit, looking up at me with a little smile.  "I'm fine, thank you~"  Glancing at her purple watch, she suddenly looked worried.  "Oh, no, I'll be late for my first day!"  Hastily the waist-length black haired girl got up and picked up her bag.  "Sorry, but I have to go!"

"W-Wait!" I tried to stop her, but she ran away.

"Hurry up, Nikki!" my dad honked the horn, startling me, and I quickly hopped back into the car.

As soon as I got to school, I couldn't wait to tell my BFFs about what had happened.  "We almost ran her over!" I groaned.

"Speaking of which, there's a rumor about a new girl at school!  And apparently, she knows MacKenzie!" Chloe suddenly bubbled.  "I hope it's not another MacKenzie, though!"
