*Clare's POV*

I got down to the office and walked in. Brennan was already there and had sat by the exit door. "Sup." I waved my hand at him and took a seat next to him.

"What do you think we're here for?" I asked.

"I don't know... Did you do something again?" He whispered back. I slapped him in the arm. For being 18, we were kind of immature. We acted like any brothers and sisters would, but in a more... 8 year old fashion.

"Asshole," I said in a quiet voice. Just then two men came out from one of the rooms in the back. They both had black dress pants on and jackets. However, the shorter one who had dirty blonde hair, had a grey shirt on and a yellow tie. The taller one who had a much bigger muscle structure and fluffy black hair, had the same suit but a white shirt and yellow tie. He was fidgeting with it which was distracting me from what was happening. "You are the Brockman twins?" The short one asked.

"Yeah... did we get in trouble?" I asked.

"More like did Clare get us in trouble..." Brennan said in a quiet, irritated voice. I punched him in the arm. "That's not funny, Brennan!!"

He just snickered at me, holding his bicep. We could be told apart easily but if someone were to try to compare us by faces, it was difficult. We both had freckles, in almost exactly the same places, same dark blue eyes and brownish blonde hair. Some people said that our voices were alike, too. The shorter man cleared his throat, getting our attention.

"Um, do you have any idea at all why you're here?" He asked. We both shook our heads. "Well, for starters, I'm Agent Washington, or Wash, and this is Agent Maine. We're from Project Freelancer-" Maine interrupted Wash. "I'm not gonna say anything drastic, just chill out," Washington said.

Maine growled at him and crossed his arms across his chest. I looked at him and he looked back at me, but I turned away quickly and continued to listen to Wash.

"So, we were sent to ask you if you want to join us in the Project." Me and Brennan looked at each other. Wash took out a small set of papers.

"We heard that you, Clare, seem to get in a lot of fights..." My face turned red at hearing that because I knew it wasn't a good thing. It made my freckles stand out even more. "...but win them a lot." I nodded and shrugged. "And Brennan, you're a star athlete on the football and basketball teams?"

He nodded too with his hands behind his head and crossed his legs. "Yeah, I guess I am. A lot better than Clare now isn't it?"

I growled at Brennan, when Maine grunted at us. "So, do you both want to join?" Wash asked. Brennan and I looked at each other again and shrugged. "Sure, why not," we said in unison. "Ok then. Get home, get your stuff together and start movin'."

We started to walk out but I stopped. "Wait, what are we supposed to pack?" Maine and Wash looked at each other.

"Well, anything that you use on a regular basis? I mean, like, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toothbrushes... that stuff." I slowly nodded. 'These guys are weird... well, Wash is weird. Maine is... I don't know yet. But I'll find out eventually.'

Brennan drove us home and we packed all our stuff up. Their car/limo thing was infront of our house and we got in the car. We sat in the back with the two guys. The ride was long. I sat across from Maine. He sat with his elbows on his knees and hung his head on towards the ground. It looked like he was sleeping but I didn't know, so I just sat there silently until we got to a military base.

The gate opened and we entered the area. I looked at Maine, who was still in the same position as he was before. When we stopped and Wash got out, Maine just slid out and took his tie off and took off his jacket. Wash just stood there and pushed Maine ahead.

"Come on. You guys got your bags?" I turned around and grabbed my bag and Brennan's. He was still sleeping so I threw his bag at him. He jumped up, and ran out of the car. "Shit, did I miss anything?"
"No idiot. We're riding around in the magical pony land that you always dreamed of. "

"What?!"

"No, god damn it Brennan, we're leaving for outer space!" I sighed and held the bridge of my nose. "How you're gonna get around in life I don't know..." 'Take a breather Clare, you're getting too worked up. It's a big change from what you had going but don't get so worked up about it...'

I took a deep breath and stood up straight. Maine nodded his head towards a large ship. The ship was massive and daunting. The large gun on top got my attention the most. It almost looked like a miniature gun based on its shape. Men and women worked around the ship, building repairs and loading up supplies.

"Yep, that's it," Wash said. "Let's go kids."

We walked onto the ship and we saw someone in front of us leaning against the wall. "Hey Wash! Maine. Always good to see you. Nice outfit. Don't see that everyday," said a man in a light brown Spartan armor. He had a scar going down his left eye, his hair up in a quiff. Maine grunted in return and smirked at the comment. "Hey York," Wash said.

"So, these the newbies I heard about?"

"Yep. Just got here." Wash turned to us. "You guys can find your room and unpack."

Maine gestured to the left and started walking. We followed him down the corridors and found us looking down a hallway with a lot of doors.

"Just to have things clear, I do NOT want to be in the same room with him", I said as I pointed behind me. Maine just chuckled.

"Well, that might be difficult," a calming voice said from behind us. A man in a dark purple and green armor walked towards us. "The only rooms left are with Maine and Wash." He took off his helmet and put it under his arm. "You guys must be Wisconsin and Minnesota." Me and Brennan both looked at each other. "Uh, who now?" Brennan said.
