Luke had always known that something wasnt quite right. From secretly liking the color pink to feeling terribly uncomfortable kissing his only high school girlfriend to feeling a flutter in his stomach whenever his best friend Ashton took off his shirt at the beach. He knew in the pit of his stomach that he wasn't straight, but he suppressed it, ignored it, bottled it up, and hope eventually it would go away. It didn't. His first day of university really proved that.
Lukes parents and little sister helped him carry his things to his new dorm room. Half of the room was already decorated with band merch, and Luke could tell he and his roommate would get along well.
"You sure you haven't already been here?" Luke's sister Ana asked, gazing at the massive Green Day poster across the wall. Luke laughed.
"Someone just has good taste is all. Unlike you, squirt" he teased. Ana rolled her eyes.
"Pop music isn't a bad thing." She huffed. Luke rolled his eyes.
"One Direction is the fakest band there is." He scoffed. Ana clutched her chest.
"Shut up!" Luke rolled his eyes. He couldn't stand pop music to save his life. Singers who didn't write or play music weren't real musicians in his eyes.
"Both of you stop that. Say goodbye, Ana we've embarrassed your brother enough" Lukes father said. Luke gave him a thankful look. As his family was about to leave, a boy came out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist, and another in his hand drying his hair. He looked up and paused.
"Oh... hi. I didn't know anyone was here. I'm Michael" he said. Luke forced himself to look away from the boy's body.
"I'm Luke. These are my parents and my sister Ana" Michael set down the towel he'd been using for his head and held out his hand.
"Hi" he said, semi-awkwardly. Luke could tell he was gonna enjoy Michael's company.
After about ten minutes of Luke's mother blubbering over her baby growing up, Luke managed to get his family to leave him in peace.
"Sorry about them" he said quietly to Michael who'd since gotten dressed. Michael shrugged.
"No biggie. Your sisters pretty cute." He mentioned. Luke narrowed his eyes.
"She's fifteen shut the fuck up" he snapped. Michael raised his hands in surrender.
"Okay okay all I said was that she was cute" Luke rolled his eyes and unzipped his suitcase. Just then, the dorm room door burst open.
"Hola Bitchado!" A boy with long brown hair shouted. Michael began to laugh and the boy froze.
"Wait who's the blonde beauty?" He asked. Michael smiled.
"That's Luke. Luke this is Victor."
"Vic actually. Hi" he said, holding out a hand. Luke shook it and smiled.
"So do you always make that grand of an entrance or?"
"Almost, yeah." He replied non-chalantly. Someone else appeared in the doorway wheezing.
"Jesus, Vic slow down a bit!" He exclaimed. Luke laughed.
"Luke, this is Kellin. Kellin, this is Michael's very tall roommate Luke." Kellin smiled at Luke.
"Hey man nice to meet you" he said. Then he and Vic turned to Michael.
"You still commin' to Oli's gig tonight?" Vic asked. Michael nodded.
"Course! Hey, Luke wanna come to our friend Oli's show? He's got a little band called Bring Me The Horizon that's playing at a local Pub" Luke shrugged.
"Sure, why not?"
Luke only wished he wasn't so socially awkward.
