They were forced to hang out at lunch. Since it was a new school and for some reason everyone else seemed to know at least five other people already they had to sit at the only table available.

At first it had only been Wendy. These short brunette had been elated to find she had the table to herself until Kamiya had come along. She hadn't really minded the blonde so she really took no notice to her and her outgoing personality. Although she did catch when she mentioned she had been homeschooled her entire life, not much unlike herself but Wendy had only been in the system for a couple of years since the incident-that-must-not-be-named.

She started to feel a little irritated when a nervous Joseph sat down next to Kamiya though. He had been mumbling to himself since he had gotten there. Although, she didn't pay much thought into him. She didn't really care what the abnormal-eyed boy was doing at the moment. She was only determined to finish her horribly-made sandwich.

Wendy would honestly be lying if she said she wasn't irritated with the fact that Zachary had just plopped down in the seat across from her, giving her a wide grin that would give almost anyone else the creeps. She was used to freak like her though, ones that were basically outcasts to the world. Black eyes or not, Zach was still human. Even despite his weird aura.

She didn't even glance up a few minutes later, when she heard Tyler and Mariana reluctantly sit down. She expected it after all. Tyler was Joseph's cousin and Mariana didn't seem like the type of person anyone else would let sit with them.

No one talked. No one acknowledged anyone else's presence. That was with the exception of Joseph who hadn't still stopped nervously muttering to himself. It seemed like forever until Tyler spoke up.

"Can you shut up Jo?" The raven-haired boy slightly sneered, startling both the target of the words and everyone else at the table.

"I wasn't talking to you geezer." Joseph growled a bit after.

"What were you talking to your dead friend again?" Tyler rolled his eyes and narrowed them. He hated being called old, especially if the person calling him old was older than him. Just because his hair was whitening didn't mean he was 60.

Kamiya knew where this was going to go. Anybody could if they had half a rodent brain. Family fighting was the worst kind of fights that could happen. So she intervened.

"Come on guys, don't fight." The blonde said. "Besides, we all have to deal with each other sooner or later. Plus, you guys are literal family so you might as well tell your parents that they're idiots."

Tyler sighed, he knew she was right.

"You don't know half of my story." Joseph said, his blue eye glowed slightly. He grabbed his tray and stomped off.

"Dude, your cousin have MPD or something?" Mariana asked

"Well, he was diagnosed with it but, I don't know. Weirder things have happened to me." The albino said in a faint whisper.

Nobody talked after that.

When the bell rang and they all went to their classes a redhead male walked up to Zachary. Zach tried to ignore the boy, sometimes he just wasn't in the mood, but he kept following him until the black-eyed boy got irritated and finally turned around. Glaring and smirking at the ginger. Yet, he didn't seem all that startled by the suddenness.

"Something is different about you." Said the boy. "And not just the fact that you're obviously-"

"What do you want?" Zach cut him off, knowing full what he was about to say.

"My name's Grant." The boy informed, his eyes studying the other as if silently interrogating him. It made the blond uncomfortable in a way. "You and your- acquaintances, none of you are normal. Something bad has happened to all of you. Almost, inhuman. I'm going to find out what it is. I have access to files."

The blond boy just blinked and turned to walk away. Was it true that maybe, just maybe, the others were actually like him? Unless Grant was wrong and it was just him with the problems. He didn't want to hear from that boy again though, he gave him the creeps, which was ultimately hard to do.

He could always stab the ginger and get sent back to the boarding school. But then, what would happen there? He had just gotten out of that school and it was almost living hell. Was here any better though?

Yes, it was. Here they didn't serve maggots in the school cafeteria.

"Grant?" Zachary turned and called out, finding the boy about to leave as well. "I'm Zach."

The ginger smiled, and the blond saw something in his eyes that told him one thing. He wasn't as bad as he had originally thought. He tried to give the same look but he knew it was hard to tell because of his eyes.

The blond sighed in slight relief as Grant let him be. He had his next class anyways.
