"Mom, I'm home!" I shouted through the house as I walked across the threshold and slammed the door shut, there was no answer and I felt as if the silence in the house was deafening, "Mom?" I echoed, I paused and yelled "Jason?" usually they're here when I get home from work. Where the heck are they? I look around the bottom floor before heading up the stairs; I first check my Mom's room and when it comes up empty I find myself even more confused.
Eventually I hear a yell coming from down the hall and shoot towards that direction, I come across my younger brother playing (enthusiastically may I add) his video game, ear piece in and all. I laugh at the sight in front of me before striding into his room and ripping his head set off, "Hey?" he questions loudly, "What the hell?"
"Where's Mom?" I ask as he turns to face me in his chair
He glares for a second before wiping any trace of anger and says, "She went to see Dad."I nodded my head in understanding; that's all she seems to do anymore. "Okay. What do you want for dinner?" I ask, immediately knowing I'm going to have to step in and cook dinner for what seems like the millionth time in the past year and a half.
He shrugs, "Doesn't matter, but just a warning there is literally no food in this house."
Of course there's not. I huff a noise and roll my neck, "Looks like I'm going shopping." I tell him, "Is there anything in particular you want?"
"I'll text you!" he replied before swiveling back around and continuing his game.
I made my way back out the door towards my room, I changed quickly out of my starbucks uniform into a nice pair of light wash denim skinny jeans, and a white v-neck t-shirt, I wrap a red flannel long sleeve around my waist and slide on my leather jacket. I glide from my walk in closet to my vanity and rake through my clutter of necklaces, eventually choosing a dainty gold one; which had the letter K on it. Last but not least I slip on my black converse.
"Jason, I'm leaving!" I yell up the stairs as I trudge towards the door, I walk outside then clime into my 2010 dark grey Honda Civic eventually pulling out of our small driveway in front of our two-story home.

I first stop by starbucks (coinicidentally the one I work at) and go through the drive-thru, ordering my usual venti mocha frappechino. Soon enough I inch my way towards the window to wait for the heavenly goodness "That will be 4.95$" I hear from inside, just as I look up I see him do the same " Oh! Hey Kenzie. Didn't you just leave here?" Chase asked, "Did you miss me that much?"
I chuckled lightly, "Of course I missed you Chase. Why else would I be here? Oh wait, I came because of that cup of joy right there. Hand it over!" I demanded slightly
"Alright, alright! Jeez, and I thought I meant something to you." He pouted while his hand reached out toward my car
"You do! But you know how I am when I don't get my coffee." I spoke quickly so I could sip on the straw
He laughed, "I still don't understand why you're back here, the last thing I want to do when I get off work is come back to work." He spoke breathlessly trying to get his point across
I shrugged my shoulders slightly before lifting a 5$ bill out of my car window as I ranted, "I'm kind of drained from today so I went home only to find out that we had no food in the house for dinner so I decided to stop by here first, not only to see your beautiful face again" I joked lightly, "But to lift my spirits a little. I need it."
He nodded his head as a small smirk started to take his lips, "You think my face is beautiful?"
I rolled my eyes and hit the gas pedal, "Bye Chase!" I yelled out the door,
