'All the lonely people, where do they all belong?'
Father McKenzie, is writing a sermon that no-one will ever hear, who would want to listen to a sermon by a old man like him? No-one ever shows up to his church services, no-one ever goes near to him. Poor Father McKenzie no family or friends.
He sits waiting for people to show up to his services at night, but he realizes there is no point in him waiting for anyone to come, no-one would ever go near crazy Father McKenzie, why should he bother waiting? So he gets out his socks and starts to get rid of the holes in them by darning them. All the effert put into that sermon, no-one will never hear.
If you look from the dark and gloomy church yard you can just see the siluet of a man, lit by candle light, darning his socks. But no-one else is there. He doesn't care that no-one wants to see him, he has become used to that by now. He just concerntrates on his socks and fixing them, he always seems to do that everyday.
Father McKenzie is all on his own. All the time.
