~~~My life was perfect before junior year of high school. I had a great group of friends and a great boyfriend. My family was rich and I got anything I wanted. And then it all went downhill...~~~
I'm Ashley Claire Bird, but I prefer to go by my middle name. The only people who call me Ashley are teachers and my dad. My dad is a trauma surgeon and hardly has time for me. My mom is a professor at Dartmouth so I only get to see her on holidays. My parents have been divorced ever since I was three. They were really young when they got married and they just grew apart. They ended on pretty bad terms and there was a huge custody battle but I ended up staying in Manhattan with my dad.
Me and my dad live on the Upper East Side in a really nice penthouse. He's barely home but I'm not really alone because either my boyfriend or my best friends are over.
My boyfriend, Ryan, is the most popular guy at school. I'm one of the most popular girls, so it makes sense that we're together. He really treats me like a princess but has been kind of distant lately. I'm assuming family problems because his family is kind of crazy. I don't care though, we work through everything.
Ryan and I met after his lacrosse game when I was trying to get a photo of our schools team for yearbook. I was getting my camera set up and then he ran into me by accident and broke my camera. He was really apologetic and bought me a new, even better the next day. He then asked me to go with him to the opening of his dad's 3rd restaurant in the city. I (of course) said yes and we've been dating ever since.
It's kind of ironic that Ryan's twin sister, Emily, is one of my closest friends. She says she's not bothered by the fact as long as we don't make out in front of her. Emily is super bubbly and innocent. She can be annoyingly nice sometimes but I love her. My other best friend is Jöelle, but I call her Jo. She is really down to earth and honest. She's known as the schools "Queen Bee" due to her sometimes bitchy attitude. It doesn't bother me, though, because Jo and I have been friends basically since birth. Her mom is a nurse at the same hospital my dad works at and they were actually thinking of getting married about a year ago, but realized it would affect their work life. I would have loved to be sisters with Jo, even though we practically are already. We hang out every single day. Like Ryan, she's also been kind of distant lately but I won't think to much of it.
My school life is pretty basic. I go to a private school and I'm a model student. Straight A's, school president, yearbook club leader, captain of the volleyball team; the list goes on.
I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about school today. I don't have a test I didn't study for or anything but it's just an upset feeling in my stomach warning me that something bad is going to happen. Oh well. If I feel sick I'll just call my maid, who's name I don't know. Anyways, off to school....
