When Violet and I arrived at the flat I was a little surprised to find that it was empty. I'd half expected Clint to be waiting for us, which was a little ridiculous I guess; it's not like he hasn't got other people to talk to.
I set Violet down and we headed into the bedroom. I changed out of my suit and into some boring pajamas that were way too big for me. Looking through my closet I found that all the clothes in it were a size or more too large.
I'll definitely have to go shopping later, I thought as I tied the ribbon around the waist of the bottoms I grabbed.
"You hungry?" I asked Violet when my own stomach growled lightly.
"Ya, ya, ya!" She said, grinning.
"Let's see what Clint has then. I hope he doesn't mind..." I trailed off, going to the kitchen and looking through the fridge and cupboards.
I found the basic ingredients to make Chicken Alfredo and set to work on that while Violet sat at the counter drawing in a coloring book.
I felt a pang of guilt that while I was making a normal dinner, my sister was trapped away in Asgard probably scared out of her mind and malnourished. The thought made my heart hurt so I tried to push it from my mind, thinking of what I could do to help her, which was keep my head straight and train.
Soon the meal was ready and I had two bowls of pasta served for Violet and I. We ate quietly which was rare so I figured Violet was tired. My suspicions were confirmed when she let out a large yawn and her head drooped forward.
"Alright, let's get you to bed Sweetie." I said, getting up to grab Violet.
"No, Mommy. No, no sleep. Not tired." She mumbled into my shoulder.
"Not tired my ass." I said, laughing. I laid her down on her side of the bed and tucked her in. She was asleep practically as soon as her head hit the pillow.
I smiled at her and kissed her forehead, brushing stray hairs from her face. Sleep tight, my love.
I left the bedroom and walked to kitchen to clean up the small mess I made while making dinner. I was just getting to work on the pasta pot when the elevator dinged. Turning around I saw that it was Clint, he had bruises forming on his body and a split lip. He also looked rather sweaty.
"Are you, um, are you okay?" I asked, a little worried. He didn't seem to be worried though so maybe he was just sparring. Intense sparring.
"I'm fine, sparring with Natasha just got a little heated. What are you doing?" He gestured towards the dishes.
"I made some dinner for Violet and I so I'm cleaning up the dishes. There's some more in a bowl on the counter if you want it, it might be a little cold though so you may want to throw it in the microwave for a minute." I said, scrubbing hard at a spot on the pan I cooked the chicken in.
Clint did as I suggested and put his bowl in the microwave, then came over to talk to me.
"That was insane down there with Logan. What happened? Why'd you let him beat you up so bad in the beginning?" He asked, eyebrows furrowing.
"I'm much like Bruce. Piss me off enough, hurt me enough, and something happens. I don't get as big as he does, but I promise you I'm twice as terrible." I said as way of explanation. "Nick calls it 'Going Black' because my eyes turn black when it happens." I added as an afterthought.
"So you're mutant and fairy?" Clint asked.
"No, just fairy. There are different types of fairy. My sister and I are both naturally light fairies, good fairies. Stryker though, he found out about us. He got me but not my sister. He wanted to know what would happen if you injected a light fairy with dark fairy blood, so that he did. It didn't take him long to figure out what had happened and he wanted to create more hybrids like me. Fairies are extremely difficult to find though so I don't believe he ever had a chance to make more before Logan destroyed the facility." I explained. The microwave beeped and Clint went to grab his bowl.
"Hey, could you stay in here with Violet for me so I can go apologize to Logan?" I asked, looking towards the bedroom.
"For kicking his ass?" He sounded surprised.
"No, no." I said laughing, "I said something that I really shouldn't have and I have to apologize."
"Ya, sure, I'll stay with her. Just so you know though, Stark Tower has an AI so if I'm not around you can call on him and he'll watch her."
"Oh, thanks. I'll do that!" I smiled at him and headed towards the elevator.
I didn't know what floor Logan was on so I decided to give the AI a try. "Artificial Intelligence, what floor is Logan on?"
"Logan is on floor thirty-one." A smooth British accent said. "You may call me J.A.R.V.I.S."
"Okay. Thank you J.A.R.V.I.S." I pushed the button to floor thirty-one. When the doors opened I was greeted with a flat. A glance around the place told me that this was more than likely Logan's flat, it was rather boring looking and a little bit messy. "Logan?" I called but I didn't get an answer.
"Logan you ass I know you're in here." I walked around the rooms looking for him but I couldn't find him. "What the hell, where is -" I was cut of by Logan dropping in front of me and delivering a swift punch to my jaw, making me stumble and trip over some discarded thing on the floor.
"Logan, stop!" I yelled, putting my hands out in front of me and getting up. "I didn't come here to fight you Logan! I came to apologize. I'm sorry, Logan. I am so sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
He just looked at me and shook his head, pushing past me and going to the fridge to grab a beer. I sighed and put my head down. "What the hell happened to us?" I muttered, turning to go back to the elevator. "We made the best team."
I entered the elevator and rode it back to Clint's room, stray tears falling from my eyes. "We were the greatest."
