This chapter is shorter than I wanted it to be, but I wanted to upload for you all!  Hope you like it!

“Rules?”  Logan asked as we walked into the Danger Room.

“Same as they always are, Logan.  Don’t kill me.”  I shrugged, stopping in the middle of the silver room; Logan was about three feet across from me.

“On my count you can begin.”  Fury’s voice came on over the sound system in the room.

“Three.”  I rolled my shoulders back, bracing myself for the onset of pain that I knew was going to come.

“Two.”  Fucking hell.  I hope the change comes quickly this time.  Last time we fought it was slow and it hurt like hell.  I still won though.  Always do.

“One.”  Smack!

Left cheek, a little off, hurt like hell.

“Oof!”  Punch to the gut, right on target, knocked the wind out of me.

Crack!  There goes my nose.

I suffered near five minutes of abuse before I could no longer take it.  “Enough!”  I screamed, my vision got blurry around the edges and focused in on Logan, who was smirking.

“Well, it’s about time kitty got her claws.”  He said, still with that goddamn smirk.

I wasted no time in punching him square in the jaw while he was mildly distracted.  That would have sent any normal man flying across the room and into the back wall, but it only made Logan stumble a bit.

“Hey, Spidey, put on track four!”  Logan called and not three seconds later Another One Bites the Dust by Queen started playing.  I can only assume ‘Spidey’, who was probably Peter Parker, knew that this was coming from the accelerated response time.

“How incredibly cliché.”  I grunted, kicking my leg out quickly and swinging it at his chest.  Stupid mistake.  I should’ve known better.

He grabbed my ankle and swung me around, throwing me at the wall behind him.  “Shit!”  I hissed, clutching the back of my head.  I didn’t have time to wait for the room to stop spinning.

“Wrong move, asshole!”  I growled, getting up off the floor.  I started to run towards Logan, who had moved to three quarters into the room.

“I was hoping it would be.”  He grinned, starting to run towards me.

Just before we would have collided with each other, I fell onto my back, sliding between his legs.  I let my arms fall behind me and grabbed onto his ankles, pulling him and making him fall face forward onto the cool metal of the room.  I was back on my feet again within seconds, rushing to Logan.  I grabbed him by the ankles and, much like he had done to me, lifted him off the ground, spun him around a few times, and threw him at the wall behind me.

Unlike myself though, he did not get up off the ground within seconds.  Or even a minute.  After he wasn’t up within a minute and a half, I grinned.  Another of our fights, won by me.  As usual.  I must say, it does get a bit boring after awhile though.  I turned and started walking to the door to exit the room.

“So, what was it like?  Being a murderer for hire.  Did you enjoy it?  Killing people you didn’t know.  People who had done you no wrong.  People with families.”  He was behind me now, whispering it in my ear.

“Don’t, Logan.  You don’t want to go there.”  I warned, my voice cracking.

“Oh, I think I do, Ron.”  He murmured.  “What did you do it for?  I know it wasn’t money.  You have more than enough of that.  Did you just get bored?  Do you ever miss it?”

“Right about now I’m starting to.”  I hissed.

“Your kid’s cute.  Where’s her dad?  Did you kill him too?”

Like you killed yours?”  I seethed; I could feel him tense behind me.  “I know you, James.  Do not pull this shit on me.”

I set my shoulders back and walked into the elevator to take me from the Danger Room to the observation room.  I wasn’t expecting the observation room to be as full as it was.  Looks like everyone wanted to see Logan fail.

“Anyone want to play winner?”  I joked, half serious.  There were a few murmurs before the most of the crowd dispersed, heading to elevators and stairs.

“Put me down.”  I heard Violet complain, dragging out the ‘ow’ sound.  I turned my head towards her voice and saw her in the arms of Peter Parker, also known as Spiderman.  He was a lanky seventeen year old with brown hair and glasses.  I made my way over to him and smiled.

“I’ll take her.”  I laughed at his relieved expression as he handed me to her.

“That was, wow, that was amazing.”  Peter enthused, pushing his glasses back up his nose.  “How did you…?  How did you do that?  You shouldn’t have been able to.  The records said that you were only one quarter fairy, which means you shouldn’t have been able to do that.”

“Haven’t you ever heard of mutant testing, kid?”  I asked, thinking back to Stryker and shuddering at the memory of what he put both Logan and me through.

“Well, yes, but your record, it would have said something about that but it didn’t.”

“The record was wrong then.”  On that note I decided I would take my leave, turning from him I walked to Fury.

“Cute kid; where’d you find him?”  I asked, jerking my head in Peter’s direction.

“New York City, a year or so ago.  What did you say to Logan to piss him off so bad?”  Fury asked, looking through the window into the Danger Room.  When I looked I saw the scene of the room had changed.  It was no longer a metal oval shaped room but was, in fact, a burning city.  The city was full of large, odd looking creatures that Logan was currently in the middle of fighting.  He looked absolutely pissed.

“Logan and I go way back, Nick.  Farther than I’d like to admit.  We know things about each other that no one else does.  What I said was low, but he brought up some rather bad memories.”  I muttered, closing my eyes and hugging Violet closer to my body.

Fury made a grunt of acknowledgement.  “Go upstairs and get yourself cleaned up, Cap wants to talk to you.  He’ll be in the debriefing room.”

“Yessir.”  I said, saluting him jokingly to which he rolled his one eye.  I walked to the elevator and hit the button for floor thirty-six.

“Mr. Clint was very worried about you.”  Violet stated.

“Really?  Were you?”  I asked.

“No way.  Aunt Lottie told me all about how you used to kick butt.”

I gave her a flat look.  “Did she now?  I’ll have to talk to her about that the next time I see her.”

“She did.  I tried to tell Mr. Clint you would be fine, but he didn’t listen.  He almost went in there to help you right before you beat up Mr. Logan.”

“Oh?  How…sweet?  I think.”  I murmured.

Violet continued talking about various people’s reactions but my mind was elsewhere.  I was thinking more about Clint’s reaction than anything.  No one had ever really been worried about me before, besides Lottie.  It was a weird feeling.  Knowing someone cared.  I wasn’t sure I liked it either.
