A journey with a horse called Rusty

Chapter 1

It was a cold and frosty, everyone in the family was in bed, in a deep sleep... But Katie wasn't, she was busy creeping down the swirling stars, to the immaculate kitchen and out of the back doors, to go and see Rusty!

Katie finally stepped up onto the shavings in Rustys stable, he was standing at the front of it eating his hay, waiting for her as normal.
She gave him a treat, gave him a brush, tacked him up and went out for a midnight ride...

It was exactly 12:00pm when she stepped out of the barn with Rusty.
" Where shall we go today? Shall we go somewhere new?" Katie spoke to Rusty.
They walked to the trail on the left, through the forest and lost track of time...

They were in a new place, a place neither Katie or Rusty had seen. Even in the moonlight it was beautiful, with long lush green grass, gorgeous yellow daffodils shooting out of the ground... But surrounded by lots of trees, some had fallen down because they are so old. The place looked so ancient!

Katie grasped in beauty at the magnificent land. She asked Rusty to gallop around the side, but half way around there was a huge tree trunk that was blocking the way, they could not turn nor stop because they were too close to it. Katie clung to Rustys saddle (because he had no mane) as she did not know what he was going to do.. He leaped into the air and cleared the 3 meters high tree trunk. She never expected him to jump it because he never jumps, he normally only pops over a little, skinny pole on the ground.

They finally got out of the daffodil land and continued down the track when they passed a large barn. Rusty neighed, and galloped off the track to the other side, Katie spotted where he was going to, there was a girl lying on the floor. She was the same age ask Katie, she had curly blond hair and blue eyes but was wearing a riding hat. She had fallen off her horse. There was also a pony beside her. Katie started poring her water out of her plastic bottle over the girl, she woke up with fear in her eyes. Katie guided her up, "It's ok, I'm here... Slowly does it. You look okay, I don't think you are hurt are you?"
