" I'm going to look at the view. I'll catch up" She said comforting him, squeezing his hand, looking back at hin over her shoulder. It was rough in hers.
"Promise you will come back?" He asked imploringly.
" Yes" She whispered.
And they said run.
But as she turned and ran up the track in her beaten up chucks and old band t shirt, he knew she had lied.
She never lied.
Her feet pounded against the gravelly ground, dust flew up at her heels and she ran. Her hands curled into fists against the cruel wind.
And they said run
The breath caught in her lungs, ripping her apart from the inside out. It came in gasps and coughs but she ran.
There it was.
A sheer cliff plunging away into the frothing waves hundreds of metres below.
And they said run.
She ran, they were closer now, so close she could almost see a life without pain.
"I need you" He yelled from the trees from which he burst.
" Come back" He pleaded. " I will take it away for you.
And they said jump.
"But they said jump" She told him slowly.
So she jumped.
And he jumped with her.
And they said "Jump"
