Chapter 1 - Bad boys
I started to walk round school with my best friend by my side. Her name was Jess. She was beautiful and she loved me after everything, even when I lost my popularity through a bunch of lads. She was the bestest friend in the whole wide world. This was my life now and my best friend loved me through and through.
However I sometimes wished my life was back how it used to be. Like now walking through school, the girls turn to face me and just give me their evilest stare they can. The lads that once wanted me don't even notice I'm there when I walk round.
I wish sometimes people would accept me but then I realised I gave my old life up. Maybe seen as I wished not to be popular the guys came as my answer. Just maybe that's what happened. And now I'm not going to regret what happened because I kept the most important thing to me. Jess.
As we just walked around school I began to think. My mum and step dad were rich and I lived in a big house, when I say big it was double the size of a mansion. My real dad died in a car crash which hurt me loads but my mum got over him pretty quickly. I guessed she never really loved him. I was to scared to ask.
No one had ever been or seen my house, including my best friend. I always stayed at grandmas when at school and in the holidays I saw my mum and dad. I began to wonder would it of been different if I had shared my house to the whole year or just the same.
My friend abruptly stopped and I hadn't noticed till I ran into someone. I fell backwards and landed on my arse. Gosh, that hurt. They were hard as stone and much taller than me. I looked up to see four familiar guys. The guys that had once stolen something I hated but now envied but never regretting the decision to go back. The guy I ran into was the taller one. I remember they had the one different feature. This guy was Jeremy. The sarcastic one.
"Hi. I'm Jeremy. You ok?"
"I'm good thanks."
He held out his hand to me and helped me up. I gathered my things up and started to brush the dust off my trousers.
"You should really watch were you are going." Jeremy sniggered.
"Me? You were stood in my path." I said this even though I technically wasn't paying attention to were I was going.
"Oh but we are big enough to see. Tell me what were you thinking about before I knocked you back into this world." He had a look on his face saying he was serious but joking at the same time.
I decided to lie. "How much of a dick you four are. Now I'd like to go."
"Don't lie to me. I can tell you were lying."
"Oh just get lost. I have no energy to argue with you and never will have energy to pay attention to what you're saying. Now if you don't mind."
I walked past them however Jess stayed put. I heard her whispering something to them but couldn't pick out the words. What was she saying? It would be my mission to find out.
The day passed in a blur and Jess tried avoiding me at all costs as she knew I'd heard her earlier on. She would walk the opposite way when she saw me and at lunch she ate outside while I was inside. In class she would sit far away from me.
Well she couldn't avoid not coming to mine as she had promised my grandma she would be round tonight. My grandma loved Jess to pieces and I didn't blame her, who wouldn't. I waited after school for her and saw her give a sigh. She knew it was coming and here it was.
We got into my car as I'd brought her too school this morning. We sat in silence for a while and then I asked her straight out.
"Jess, what were you talking about to the four brothers?"
"I knew you'd ask. They are here on a mission."
"A mission?"
"A mission to find their soulmate. They need three people they are most attracted to who are going to battle to win their hearts. When fighting it will become clear who they want despite winning or losing the fight. It's not a fight of physical strength but a series of different tasks to complete. In the end they will all have a soul mate and one will become the next king and queen."
We had pulled up to my grandmas by now and I just sat staring at her. I burst out into hysterical laughter. Was she serious or what?
"What...are...you...on...about?" I said between bursts of laughter.
"They are vampires Em. Vampires willing to kill for anything."
This made me laugh more. When I calmed down I turned to my best friend and looked at her. "You're serious aren't you."
"Yes Em I am very serious."
"Oh My God. How do vampires exist. Sure I've read about them but still."
"Well I know that you are coming to the 'vampire world' with me and a few others. I was asking them who else is going."
"I'm not going. I can't just leave everything behind. My family will be devastated."
"You have till the end of the week before they are going to kidnap us."
"How come only you know this?"
"Because I caught one drinking on a human. And there is when he told me. He told me you were coming and I told you early because I know you would be distraught to just leave. I'm telling you for your own sake here Em."
I couldn't hold them in any longer. The tears overwhelmed me. I had till this weekend to say goodbye to my family and being the sister of 5 brothers and 5 sisters this was going to be hard.
Jess took me inside my grandmas house and straight upstairs. She went downstairs to tell grandma we were here and I stayed in my room filled with shock. What was I going to say? When was I going to see my parents in time? How were they going to handle it? All these questions were buzzing round my head. What has happened to me?
Jess came back in with cookies off grandma. She always made special cookies for Jess. I turned to my best friend.
"Jess what am I going to say to them?"
"Say you're staying at mine for a bit because you're room is being done out by grandmas new boyfriend. She's just got a boyfriend. And tell your grandma you're staying at mine because we need too study for our tests but you don't know when you'll be back. Maybe sometime after the exams and make sure you mention that your mum gave you permission." She made it sound so easy.
"It's not that easy Jess. You know that the others are coming to school next year. They will soon notice I'm not around. And I can't get myself to say goodbye."
"I'll help you Em I will. We will go visit your parents and then your grandma. You can stay at mine Friday and then Saturday I'll tell my mum and dad and we will leave together to get collected from the airport. The others are going to get told on Thursday that they have a day to pack and leave. We got told early so we have more time. Do you want me too stay here tonight?"
"Would you mind?" She shock her head.
"Can I ask a question?"
"Sure."
"Why did we actually get told early? The real reason!"
"They don't want you on their bad side with what happened at school."
"Seriously? That is lame!"
"I know right. But at least we have fair warning."
"Hmmmm."
This was too much and I hated it worse than I hated myself when being popular. This was going to be a complicated rollercoaster ride.
