Chapter 2 - moving on

On Tuesday me and Jess skipped school and went to stay at my parent's house for a day. I knew my parents would be annoyed at me but I still went along with Jess' plan. We arrived at my actual house around teatime Tuesday.

"Jess and Em," mum called, "You two should be in school. What do you think you are doing?"

"We got all our classwork and revision and the teachers agreed because we were top students they would let us come visit you on a 'school trip' Mrs Angelo."

"Oh well come in then."

My mum was always the understanding kind. Never took things too far. However dad wasn't. He asked questions and demanded an answer. I was dreading seeing him.

We walked in and my Dad turned towards us as soon as we stepped through the door.

"Girls, what you doing here?" he asked in his hard stern voice.

"School trip."

"Really, so why are you allowed and no one else is?"

"Because we are top students and we begged them to let us come as Em doesn't see you often enough and we promised we would finish all our school projects and revision that we were given."

"Why did you want to see us?"

"Well I want to ask you something and I wanted to stay with you for a day." I replied.

"And what did you want to ask?"

"Well, me and Jess are getting loads of homework and I would really love to be able to stay at hers until I've done my studies and exams please."

"Why can't you stay at grandmas?"

"Because Dad, I need a partner in all this and help and me and Jess have the same studies. Please Dad."

"Why can't you stay at grandmas and go to Jess' on a night."

"Because by the time we have done all our studies it will be late and I wouldn't want to bother grandma by coming home late and if I go home early I won't get all my study homework done. Please Dad."

"Can't you study at home?" Why does he have to ask so many questions all the time?

"Because Dad I need help and grandma can't help. Also she's doing my room out. Well her new boyfriend anyway."

"Grandma has another boyfriend?"

"Yes Dad but you're avoiding the subject. Please can I just stay at Jess'. I'm not going to be in any trouble and it's only till my exams are done and my bedrooms sorted."

"Fine. You can stay. But if I hear of any trouble you aren't staying."

"Thank you Dad. I love you."

"Love you too." I heard him mutter.

Me and Jess ran upstairs as I thought I was about to break down into tears hearing my Dad mutter I love you. We reached the room we would stay in for the night and there I just let the tears flow.

"You did it Em. You did it and I'm proud of you. So proud."

"But Jess, I'm leaving them forever. I'm never going to see them again. You know I'm going to make it as hard as possible for them stupid vampires. Really hard."

"Em. Don't be difficult."

"How could you say that Jess. I'm leaving my family and all you have to say is don't be difficult. It's killing me trying / let go."

"I'm sorry. I'm being really insensitive. Come on let's get some sleep a
