Goode Highschool

Annabeth's P.O.V.

"Bye, Annabeth, have a good first day!" My dad drove out of the parking lot, with me on the steps of Goode high school. My dad had told me that we were moving to New York from San Francisco. I was super excited. I didn't tell anyone I was coming. I was going to surprise all my friends, one by one. I walked through the front doors and down the halls of Goode. I stopped by the office and got my locker number, lock combination, and schedule. I went off in search of my locker.

LINEBREAK

Ugh, finding things was super hard in this high-school. I couldn't-

My thoughts were cut off when someone spoke from behind me, "Need help finding your locker?"

I turned around to find a buff guy with brown hair and brown eyes.

"Uh, yeah. " I said. I handed him the paper with my information. He started to lead me, but stuck out his hand and said, "I'm Jeremy, by the way. "

I took his hand, "Annabeth. " he released me and took me to my locker. I thanked him.

After I finished with my locker, I went off in search of some of my friends. I rounded a corner and found a spiky black-haired girl in black clothes. Thalia. I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder, trying to act shy. When she turned around, I had my head positioned so that she couldn't see my face.

I said, "I'm new here and I was wondering if you could show me around. "

She said, "Sure! What's your name?"

I lifted up my head, wearing a winning smirk.

"Annabeth! " she screeched. She gave me a huge bear hug. "What are you doing here?"

"My dad moved us. "

"Oh my gods, we have to tell the others. "

"No, no! I'm going to surprise them. "

"Let me see your schedule. " she studied it and frowned, "You don't have first class with any of us. But you have second class with me and Percy. "

"I'll get him then, tell Mr. Blofis to have Percy's back towards the door. "

"Will do. "

LINEBREAK

I sat down in a seat relatively close to the front, but mostly in the middle.

The girl next to me leaned over, "I'm Maddie. "

I studied her. She had dark blue eyes with a darker blue rim around the edge. But, as I looked closer, I realized that this was not the case. There was a slight change of color as you got closer to the pupil. It was surrounded with rims of green and grey. I was amazed by them, but shifted my gaze to the rest of her face. She had brownish hair, with blonde bangs hanging across her face. She seemed to be the type of person that didn't care how they looked, because she only wore blue converse, jeans and a hoodie. She looked athletic and fit, as well.

I held my hand out to her, "Annabeth. "

She took my hand and smiled, "Are you new here?"

I nodded, "First day. "

"Well, I think I should introduce you to my friends in the next class. They're all in it. "

"Sounds cool. "

She smiled, "Maybe I should give you the run down. I have four friends in my 'group'. Percy Jackson, captain of the swim team, Josh Hampton, the sort of unofficial co-captain, Jackson Huckleberry, the football maniac and Alex Mesnikoff, the, um, not very athletic one, I guess. Oh, and don't start flirting with Percy, apparently he's spoken for. He supposedly has a girlfriend in California, but no one believes him. "

She started to get into the gossip of the school.

Brrrrrring

The bell startled me. We had been talking for an hour.

She walked me to the class we had with Percy. She started to point her other buddies out, but I wasn't listening. I was looking at jet black hair.

She followed my gaze, "Don't even try!"

I smirked, "Watch and learn, my friend. "

She started to protest, but I was already halfway to Percy. Thalia winked at me when I looked over at her. I looked back at Maddie and winked. She was watching through her fingers. I slid my dagger out of its sheath as I got closer. I pressed it against my arm, putting my finger at the point so that it felt like a claw. I slid my arm around his throat, jabbing it with the tip of my dagger.

I stood up on my tippy toes and hissed into his ear, "PERSEUS JACKSON. I've been looking for you. "

He reacted immediately, he spun, smacking my dagger hand away. He grabbed my arms and spun me so that I was facing the class. I swiped my leg and he fell to the floor. He still hadn't realized it was me. He thought I was a monster. I had my knee on his shoulders so that he lay on his belly. I carefully took three fingers and put them against his Achilles spot.

He spoke for the first time, "Who are you?"

The entire class was stunned that I had taken him down. Maddie was speechless.

"I- !" I didn't have time to finish the thought. He rolled in a way that I don't think was possible. I wriggled away so he couldn't see my face. We jumped to our feet. He charged me but skidded to a stop, seeing my face for the first time.

I smirked, "Expecting someone else, Seaweed Brain?"

He looked at me in shock, mouth hanging open. I walked up to him and gave him two little pats on the cheek with my hand, "good to see you too, Perce. "

I realized that everyone was staring at me as I walked down the aisle past Percy. If I had to guess, I would say that girls had probably tried the same thing I did(probably not to the same degree) but had been turned down. I smiled at my Seaweed Brain.

We took our seats and Mr. Blofis began, "Alright, students. Today we will start the Odyssey. I have Greek copies for those of you who will accept the challenge. " He winked at us. We received our books and began.
