Brianne
"Mom, are you home?" I shout, stepping into the quiet house. Placing my bag onto the side, I then kick my shoes off and align them with the other footwear beside the door.
Suddenly, a sound of paws running against the wooden floor and barking was to be heard. "Max!" I happily shout, getting on my knees to greet the happy chocolate Labrador. Max licks all around my face as I scratch behind his floppy ears.
"How is my boy doing?!" I ask, acting like he would reply back. Max just wags his tail, jumping and spinning all around. Laughing at his energetic self, I stand up, dust off my knees and walk into the living room to find my mom sleeping peacefully on the couch. Sighing, I grab the blanket that rests over the couch and place it over her shivering body.
Guess I would be the one in charge of dinner tonight. I'll go look for the take out menus. I was way too exhausted to cook. I blame Mr.Mahone on that one.
That guy is so stressful to work with. I need help in history, not on getting grey hairs. Sure, he had his joking moments but then it was back to being the jerk he was. It's only the first day and he drove me crazy.
After ordering a pepperoni pizza for my mother and I, I grab my bag and head upstairs to start my homework. Before even getting the chance to start, Ethan texts me.
Ethan: How was tutoring? Did it go well?
Me: I was surprised I didn't Jump out a window.
Ethan: I'll take that as a no.
Me: He's just so...
Ethan: Blunt? Rude? Bitchy? Miserable?
Me: Hot
Ethan: *Gags* Brianne, he's your teacher.
Me: And? I didn't say I was marrying him...yet.
Ethan: Jesus, Brianne.
Me: What?! It's not my fault his looks make me lose focus.
Ethan: Yea, blame him. It's all Mr.Mahones fault.
Me: It is!
Ethan: I don't know what you see in him anyways. He's not even all that.
Me: What happened, Ethan? Jealous?
Ethan: NO!
A few minutes into our conversation, The house bell rings letting me know the pizza had arrived.
Me: Need to go. Food is here.
Ethan: Fat ass!
Me: Jealous bitch.
Ethan: IM NOT JEALOUS!
Laughing, I throw my phone onto my bed and head downstairs to pay the delivery man.
"Fifteen is your amount." He says, handing me the box filled with heaven. I hand him a twenty and tell him to keep the change before closing the door.
Walking to where my mom lays, I place the pizza onto the coffee table. "Mom, wake up. Dinners here."
"Who's Daniel?" She tiredly says, sitting up and rubbing her eyes open. Rolling mine, I take a seat next to her.
"I said dinner, mom. Not Daniel." She just shrugs.
"Same shit."
"I guess." I sarcastically say as we both reach for a slice of pizza. Turning on Netflix, we begin to eat in peace.
"How was school?" Mom questions, Picking a pepperoni off her shirt. I swear, she's such a slob at home yet so classy at work. It's unbelievable.
"Slow and painful." I reply, finishing up my first slice of pizza. I really wish students could pick a day where they can just take off from school. I'm seriously done with it all.
"It can't be that bad." With a hottie as your teacher, it sure can. You can't flirt with him nor concentrate. That school really needs to fire Mr.Mahone for his good looks!
"Alright. It was fine."
"No, sweetie. What's fine is Channing Tatum." My mom winks as I gag.
"He can be your son, mom."
"Oh please! I'm not that old." She defends herself, emphasizing on the word 'that.'
"Your oldest is twenty four." I say, referring to my brother, Hunter. Sadly, Hunter had moved to Seattle with my father after our parents divorce. He thought it wasn't fair for one parent to have both kids so, he chose to be with my father.
We were always together. I was like his hip as he was mine. Hunter still visits time to time. I just wish it was more often.
"Speaking of the oldest, Hunter is coming to visit." My eyes widen in shock as a huge smile takes over my face.
"Are you serious?!" I shout in excitement. Mom smiles and replies with a nod. Squealing in happiness, I drop my pizza into the half empty box to rush upstairs and give Hunter a call.
I can't wait until he comes down to visit!
