"Amy.... Amy...............Amy! Amy, honey, you need to get up!"
I bolted up and saw the time. Holy shit, I thought. I'm gonna be late! Quickly I ran towards my dresser and grabbed the clothes I had put on top of it the night before. It was one of my favorite outfits. I tugged my clothes on and then sprinted toward the bathroom. I brushed my hair and added a dab of lip gloss, eyeliner, and a brush of mascara.
Perfect, I thought. Much better than Krystal ever looked. But even I know that's a lie. I try not to admit that she's prettier than me. With her long, curly, strawberry blonde hair, perfect, tan skin, and long legs, she is like Kendall Jenner's twin. Everyday I walk into school knowing that everyone is looking at me, judging me.
I jogged down the stairs, seeing lots of boxes, all over the kitchen.
"Hey mom. Um what's with all of these boxes?" I asked, completely confused.
Mom jumped, clearly startled. I see her quickly wipe her eyes before turning around. Her eyes were teary. They had dark bags under them; she must not have slept well. "O-oh!" She stuttered. "I was thinking about doing a yard sale this weekend, that's all."
I look down at my crop top, the shiny blue sequins glistening up at me. I took a small breath, and looked up again, making eye contact with my mom. "Is everything okay? I heard you and dad arguing again last night."
Mom smiled. But her eyes look sad and faraway. The look you get when you have given up. "I'm fine, sweetie," she glanced down at her iPhone. "Oh Jesus! You're going to miss the bus if you don't leave now! Hurry up!"
"OK OK I'm leaving." I slammed the front door, and ran as fast as I could, my hair spiraling around my face.
