"No. We're not going. I refuse-"

"Yes we are-"

"It's your day off, no-"

"Paige, we are going and that is final."

Defeatedly, she slumps into the taxi seat, I reach across and envelop her hand in mine, hoping the warmth between our hands will, in some way, comfort her.

"I love you." Her baby blue eyes find mine, nothing but sincerity visible in those endless pools that I always find myself floating in.

"I love you too." I smile softly, "St Mary's Hospital, please."

Just as if she's seen a ghost, just at the mention of it, her eyes bulge in fear and her nails dig so fiercely into my palm, her knuckles turn a sickly shade of white. "Paige, babe, she's going to be ok." Pain erupts in the middle of my palm, I squeal quietly, but she hears and drops my hand like its a hot potato.

"Sorry." She mumble incoherently, he fingers latch together as she begins to wring out her hands.

I've never seen her like this before. Vulnerability clings to her like a foul stench, engulfing her. Fear crosses her face in flashes. It breaks my heart to see the girl I love, who's the strongest person I know, falling to pieces before my eyes. The worst part is, I don't know what to do. So I do what I thinks best.

Clasping her knotted hands between my own, I caress her fingertips and sing our song; 'Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop' softly to her, in the hope it will soothe her somewhat.

After a verse or two, her shoulders sag, her hands relax a little and the initial shakiness subsides.

As we turn the corner into the hospital grounds though, her breathing becomes laboured. I follow her gaze and growl internally.

Somehow, the bloody paps had got wind and were lurking outside the main entrance.

"Would you like me to find a quieter entrance?" He asks kindly, glancing at us in his rear view mirror.

"No, this should be-"

"Yes." Paige squeaks at the same time. Her eyes are red-rimmed and trembling like a newborn babe.

"Actually, that would be great, thanks." I smile, he nods and continues round the outskirts of the building. "Looks like you'll be the one needing attention, not Carriann." I chuckle half-heartedly.

"Shut-up." She slaps me weakly but leans into my side, clinging to my arm.

"Here we go, one quiet entrance, just what the doctor ordered." He smiles, "that'll be.. uhm, £10.80, thank you." I hand him the money and help Paige out of the taxi, "I hope your sister makes a speedy recovery, give my regards."

Paige weakly thanks him, we hurry towards the door, thankfully, the taxi driver really does know the quiet entrances, a reception sign catches my eye so I gently steer Paige in the direction of it.

"Hello, how may I help you today?" The receptionist beams from behind the desk.

"I-we-uhm, uh-" Paige stutters, staring at the ground.

"What's she's trying to say is, would you please direct us to Carriann Cranfield's room. Thanks." I reply, holding Paige firmly by the waist. I'm afraid, if I let her go, she'll collapse.

"Of course, one sec..." She looks down at her computer for a few moments, a few clicks later and she tells us it's just down the corridor, second left into Juniper Wing and she's the third door on the right.

"Thanks again." I smile, slowly pulling a jittery Paige along beside me.

"What if she's in a coma-what if she's disabled, or disfigured?!" She suddenly wails in outburst.

"Stop with the what ifs. She will be right as rain, just you wait and see."

"You promise?" Her bottom lip is jutting out, and if this were another situation, I would be nibbling at it but I just press a chaste kiss to her forehead.

"I promise."

...

"Paigey, you're such a dumbass." Carriann laughs, swatting Paige's arm who pouts in protest.

"In my defence, I didn't know how bad the crash was! All I got was a text from dad saying, "Carriann was in an accident, she's at the hospital. X"

"You should know better than anyone that it'll take more than this to take the great Carriann down!"

I watch the exchange between the two sisters with fondness, they never cease to make me laugh with the abuse they hurl at each other, both bouncing off each other.

"I don't know how you cope with my sister sometimes Jess." Carriann chuckles.

"Well, someone's got to." I smirk, playfully winking at Paige. She huffs and turns her back on me, I just laugh and shake my head.

"Well you're definitely not getting some tonight Jess." Carriann whispers, but loud enough that Paige hears.

"Oh I'm sure I can persuade her otherwise, nobody can resist this." I run my hands over my chest, Paige turns around just in time to see me lick my lips, a small whimper erupts from her parted lips, causing heat to course through my veins.

"Not here horndogs, you're at a hospital, remember?" Carrieann clicks her fingers in front of our faces, snapping us away from our heated stare.

"Bet you wouldn't say that when your hot doc comes back in here to check that cast of yours." Paige goads, gently tapping the cast around Carrianns ankle.

"That's different." She protests.

"Sure it is." I tease, she sticks her tongue out at us and picks up a magazine, ignoring us completely.

"Looks like you won't be needing our services any longer, Justin Bieber is keeping you company I see." Paige sneers, pointing at an article in the magazine.

"Bye Sis." Paige murmurs, hugs Carriann, tears already forming.

"Bye midget." She smiles wickedly, Paige's tears quickly disappear and are replaced with a frown.

"Gee thanks." She mutters.

"Bye Carriann, get well soon, but don't get it on with that doctor of yours." I wink, kissing her cheek, she blushes, but a small smirk plays on her lips.

Taking Paige's hand in mine, we amble towards the door.

"Bring chocolate next time!"
