*4 years before the accident*
"Daddy?" Mackenzie called.
"Yes princess." James-her middle-aged, divorced dad- replied.
"Daddy I don't want to see Melanie today."
"But Mac, Mel's your sister, you haven't seen her in a week and your mum said that she is looking forward to seeing you." He said, trying to convince her.
"But daddy I don't like Melanie, we have nothing in common and she always starts fights with me, plus mum doesn't like me." She whispered the last part as of it was a terrible secret."Of course she does. Her and Mel both love you to pieces. Melanie doesn't mean to start fights, it's just how sisters act." Her dad lied. It was true, ever since the twins were 2 their mother had always favourited Mel over Mac. Sadly, this was made clear so Mel always took advantage and bitterly rubbed it in Mackenzie's face.
Mackenzie could talk that he was lying by the look on his face and the tone of his voice. This brought a little tear to Melanie's eye.
"Hey, cheer up chick, how about you and me stay home, watch movies ad eat ice cream?" He smiled. This brought a grin to Mac's face.As days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, the girls had gone almost a full year without seeing each other. James grew worried about his daughters so, on their 12th Birthday he took them both (and their mother) out to dinner. This was a big mistake, throughout the whole dinner the twins argued and fought non stop. This was when both parents decided it was best if the twins had some time apart.
