Kiara Washington
I handed Bianca a sundress as I browsed through the other dresses that were catching my eye. "What do you think about this?" I held up a bright yellow African dress with African colors lining the bottom.
She shook her head no. "That wouldn't look right on you."
"You're right, yellow really isn't my color anyway." We'd begged for this mini shopping spree from our men, and to be completely honest. I was bored. Bianca my girl and all, but I'd rather be looking through wedding dresses right now."Have you and Kam ever talked about getting married?" I asked as we both put the dresses back on the rack in front of us.
She smiled, "Yeah we have. He knows im ready to marry him, Im sure its only a matter of time before he's on one knee and placing a rock on my finger." She flipped her hair back as she imagined the moment in her head. "I honestly, can't wait to be his wife girl."
"Awwhh, I wish Marqyse was as open to talking about marriage with me. I mean, he knows I'm ready but he's not really pushing it. Its like his mind is always somewhere else."
She looked at me with fear in her eyes, "Do you think there's somebody else?"
"WHAT? No.." I said completely caught off guard.
"C'mon Ki, you know Marqyse, he's never not focused on the well being of you and him. So if he's not focused on you and him then who has his focus?"
I fought back the tears, "I really don't know..Marqyse wouldn't cheat of me though. I know he wouldn't."
"Maybe you're right, but I'm just throwing that out there. And he's trying to get back into football..keep your eyes open, that's all im saying. I don't want to have to go kill a bihh with you."
I faked a little laugh, "Thanks girl. But if were done here I think Ima head home."
She pulled her keys out of her purse. "Alright girl, call me if you need to talk."
"Will do."
I drove home in silence. So many thoughts raced through my mind. I know Marqyse wouldn't do anything to hurt me, I just know him too well for that.
I pulled up to the driveway, and noticed a few extra cars parked along the street in front of the house. They all had SC tags so it had to be people we know.
I walked in to a front room full of guys with a few women here and there. "Marqyse.."
He looked my way, "Oh hey baby, look at who came and paid us a visit"
I gasped at the sight of them as they turned around, "JOEY, and RONNIE!!!"
"Just forget about me huh?" Kameron came out the kitchen with a hot pocket in his hand.
"I see you all the time Kam, but Joey and Ronnie. I've missed you guys." I gave each of them a hug and waited for them to introduce me to their ladies who stood a few feet away with unreadable expressions laying on their faces.
"We missed you too girl. I heard you been giving my man a hard time so I had to get down here and see what was wrong with you." Ronnie said sarcastically and everyone laughed.
"Yeah whatever, I just know yall better introduce these women you got up in my house before yall have an issue."
"Damn Ki, balls I see." Joey laughed. "Oh shit, that rhymed too. I guess you can say Im a lyrical genius now. But let me stop playing baby come here." He motioned for tall darkskin girl with a little bit of meat on her bones. But it fit her well and her natural curly hair had me in awe. "Ki, this is Makayla. She from North Carolina and this my little baby."
