Point of View - Addison
Three Hours Earlier
Addison sat comfortably on the soft carpet of her bedroom floor. She was tying the not-so-white laces of her black high top converse for what had seemed to be about the millionth time. When she was finished, Addison sprung up from the floor a bit to quickly, lost her balance, and nearly knocked over a few of the many card board boxes occupying her room. The day had finally come, Addison's beloved father and U.S. naval captain, Derek Sharpe, was to be restationed in Rhode Island where he would be promoted to Admiral. Addison had always known that after junior year, her dad would have to relocate and with him, her family. At first, Addison had mentally avoided the subject which actually worked to well, and for six years, Addison lived life, completely avoiding the inevebility that she would eventually need to pack up once again, and competley reset her life in a new state, a new town, with new people, and a new school where she would be finishing her senior year of highschool. She had done her best to be supportive and helpful during the moving period, but like any normal person in her situation, the thought of starting over again, just about made her nauseous. Naturally, being the daughter of a military man, Addison had moved around for as long as she could remember. But for the first time in a while, she felt as if she finally had a life. Addison was happy, she had an education, the most amazing friends, a boyfriend who loved her, and a respectable reputation. She wasn't prepared to lose all of that in the blink of an eye. Thankfully, her dad had agreed to let her finish her junior year of college in California, but like everything else, it slipped away from her much to quickly. Addison pleaded with her parents in hopes that they would allow her finish her last year of high school too, but they wouldn't even listen, and said that it wouldn't matter because she would be going off to college soon anyway. About a week ago, Addison's parents informed her and her little sister Ella, that they would be taking their own little vacation to find a new house near the Naval Base in Rhode Island. They said that Addison had gotten to the age in which her parents trusted her to spend a week alone, just her and Ella. At first this surprised her, and she was hoping that if she was successful, her parents would realize she is perfectly capable of completing her education at home in Newbury Park, but the truth was, Addison knew that her parents wouldnt give her the chance, they weren't ready to let here go. And so there she was, standing in her bare room, dreading the day that she would step into that airplane, and leave her life behind.
