Point of View - Addison

Addison fished through a torn cardboard moving box labeled, "toiletries," until she found an old handheld mirror. She killed a few more minutes attempting to prop it up, and when that had been accomplished, she proceeded to twist and twirl her long umber colored hair until it formed a nice neat braid running along the side of her head, and trailing down, far past her shoulders.
Addison tucked the bottom of a white graphic T-shirt into a pair of faded overalls that cut off at her upper thigh. Normally she wouldn't be wearing something so uncomfortable on a Friday evening, but she had decided that sweatpants wouldn't be proper party attire.
When she was finished getting ready, Addison descended down the stairs, grabbed her purse, and called up stairs to her little sister just before leaving the house,"Bye Ella, I'll see you later!"
Just as she thought she was free, Ella replied with a high pitched chirp, "Where are you going? Can I come? Are you going out with CJ? Does mom know?"
Addison took a deep breath to calm herself before aswering her little shadow, "I'm going to the library with Rosa and yes, mom is perfectly aware and no, you can't come."
Yes, she had completely lied to her sister, but she wasn't about to let that little nuisance get in the way of her fun. Addison's best friends, Jesse and Rosa, decided to make the best of situation, and took it as an opportunity to throw her a huge, going away party.
In all honesty, Addison wasn't really in the "party" mood, but at least it gave her a chance to see all of her friends before she would be shipped off again. She opened up the door to walk outside, and then leaned back in to bid farewell, "Ella, please lock the door after I leave, love you!"
" I will, Love you too," Ella answered.
Addison walked outside and was immediately enveloped in the warm summer air. She shut the door behind herself, and sat on the rustic white steps of her porch, waiting for her boyfriend CJ to come and pick her up.
It was another six minutes before Addison spotted CJ's black sedan circle the cul de sac, and pull into her drive way. He exited the vehicle, And walked to the porch, signalling her with a tiny wave. He wore Vans, casual black tube socks and grey athletic shorts. His T-shirt was concealed by a sheer blue hoody, and apart from a few rebellious strands, his golden hair was brushed back from his face quite perfectly.
When CJ reach the steps, he sat down next to Addison and calmly wrapped his arm around her. She was so grateful that he understood her flawlessly without have to ask how she was doing, or completely avoiding the situation. Addison gave him a forlorned smile, and leaned into his grasp, tucking her head securely under his strong jawline. After the couple held each other for a few more minutes, she asked, " We're going to be ok, right?"
"Yeah, we'll be fine." CJ replied reassuringly with just a hint of concern evident in his words.
Addison had moved to California at the beginning of sixth grade and for the first couple of days, she didn't know anyone. Thankfully, she was welcomed by a spanish girl, Rosa Maria who later became one of her best friends. Luckily, The girl was easy to be friends with, due to her sweet, goofy personality. All throughout sixth and seventh grade, Addison's only friends were Rosa, and the kids from her church who later joined her in high school. During the summer before eigth grade, Her mother sign her and Ella up for a summer camp, sponsored by the local church. There she met CJ, who at the time, she thought of as the cute blonde kid who occasionally smiled at her. Eventually, Addison grew closer to CJ and he "tried" to teach her how to surf. After camp ended, the two kept in touch over text until school started, where they began to spend more, and more time together. Eventually, Addison and CJ confessed their feelings for one another and their friendship developed into a secret romance. Later that year, Addison met Jesse, a jokester who would prance through the halls, swarmed by a crowd of friends. The boy sat next to her in Honors English, a class that no one expected him to be in. Despite Jesse's immature reputation, he could read anyone like they were a book, and so the two were instant friends. Eventually the word got out about CJ and Addison's admiration for each other and so it wasn't long until her mother was aware. Her mom immediately told her father, who insisted that they meet their daughter's " boyfriend." Much to Addison's surprise, her parents took quite a liking to CJ and they approved of their relationship, while keeping close watch on their child's daily activities. With her parents blessing, Addison continued dating CJ.
CJ released Addison from his loving grasp and stood up while Addison stayed put on the porch. " Come on Addison, this is depressing, let's go to the party," CJ pleaded.
"But I'm comfortable," She teased, shooting him a lazy smile.
She reluctantly got up, and whispered playfully in his ear, "Your annoying." before granting him with a small kiss on the cheek. The two held hands as they walked across the lawn to CJ's car. He dashed around the vehicle to open the door for Addison like a gentleman, before hopping in it himself. Then He pulled out of the driveway, and zoomed off down the street.
