Chapter 2 || I'm So Sorry
🔹🔹🔹🔹* * Nicole's POV * *
"Bye Sweetie we love you" My parents shouted from the car as they dropped me off in front of the Vance's house, not even bothering to help me with my bags. I totally understand though, they have a flight to catch.
"Love you too!!" I shouted as I waved back at them. I fought back the tears forming in my eyes, this is something stupid to cry over. They will be back soon... it's not like they are putting me up for adoption and will never see me again. I try to cheer myself up but only cause myself more grief.
I reached down, lifted one of my suitcases then grabbed another and rolled it to the front door. I placed them on the step and went back to retrieve the others. Once I had them in my grasp I began to head back to the front door. As I walked the front door opened, a tall dark haired guy rushed out of the house, into my luggage causing him to fall over everything and into the snow.
"What the actual f*** is this?" He shouted while throwing one of my bags into the driveway. Yikes, that suitcase was the heaviest one I brought, I can't even semi lift that up.
I snapped out of my thought, dropped the luggage I was holding and ran right over to him while saying "I am so so so so sorry!" in a quiet yet sincere tone.
He grunted when he heard my voice. I reached for one of my bags and pulled it off his leg. He looked me straight in the eye and glared.
I took a step back from him when I realized that the guy was Jake Vance.
I never actually met him or got remotely close to him but he was my living nightmare.
Freshman year I was walking down the hall and he beat a random kid up and stuffed the poor guy into his locker. Jake claimed that the guy was in his way but from that day on I vowed never to cross paths with him.
He lifted himself up while kicking one of my suitcases in the process. Before I had another chance to apologize he headed to his motorcycle and in the process pushed me to the ground into the ice cold snow.
Moments later Mrs. Vance, Jill, came running out of the house saying "I am so sorry Nicole". She helped me to my feet then yelled "Jake Vance! Come back here and apologize"
He disregarded her, put on his helmet and drove away without another word.
She lifted one of my suitcases "I apologize for Jake's behavior... he really is a nice boy" she said with a smile.
A Nice Boy!?!?? Is that what she said? I highly doubt that... but I'm sure there is good in his heart somewhere... even if its only .001% there.
"That's okay, I'm sure he is" I stated with a convincing smile while I tried to hide the fear in my voice.
Together we brought my bags into the one-story house which looked like an enlarged Barbie doll house.
The house was beige and under all the snow I'm almost certain they would have healthy bright green grass.
"I will show you to your room. Follow me" she said with a smile.
She leads me to the kitchen and then long hallway before stopping in front of a tall white door. She turned the door knob and pushed open the door while saying, "This will be your room. I did the best I could to clean it. This is our guest room and no one ever uses it so there was a lot of random junk in here."
She walked and I followed her. I placed my bags beside the bed and said, "No its absolutely perfect. Thank you for letting me stay here on such short notice."
