Chapter 1: Meet Winter

* * *

I woke up, raindrops crashing against my bedroom window, and not one single ray of sun shining in my direction. I didn't mind this though, I mean, I guess I was used to it, I woke up to this almost every morning.

Rain was one of my favorite things, I love the sound it makes as it crashes against the cold and hard ground beneath me, and I love the way the sky looks when the rain has stopped. That perfect shade of blue that flows through out the sky, almost like the ocean, but better.

I stretched my arms out, still in my bed, and reached for my white, uncased, iPhone sitting next to an empty bottle of water on my bedside table.

Every morning, i check my phone to see if anyone had texted my anything while I was asleep. Ever since I was little, i have always hated not knowing what was going on in other peoples life's while I wasn't with them, or when i was sleeping, thats why i always wake up super early, so I can see what other people in my life have been up to.

I clicked that circular button at the bottom of my phone to check the time, and to check my messages of course.

"6:46, and 11 missed messages" I read off my phone

I read all of the messages, none of them had any importance to me, and went back to bed.

"Winter, come down stairs RIGHT NOW" my younger brother yelled at the top of his lungs waking me up for the seconded time. Now the sun was finally shining and the rain finally had stopped.

He was calling for me.

I slowly got out of my bed, and walked downstairs towards my little brother. He was standing in front of our front door, fully dressed, almost as if he was ready to go to school.

"Winter, there's someone behind the door, they knocked three times" he said as if the information he was giving me was extremely important.

I reached for the door handle and pulled the door open.

"Hey, I'm Josh" the boy behinds the door said too me.

"I just moved in next door and I'm introducing myself to all of my new neighbors, starting with you" he said moving his perfect dirty blonde hair away from his face.

My heart pounded as if it was going to bust out of my chest, Josh was the hottest boy I have ever seen in my life by far. His perfect blonde hair sat so perfectly on top of his head, and his bright blue eyes, almost as stunningly blue as the sky behind him, almost glowed because of the rays of sun beaming down on him.

"I'm Winter" I said so simply.

" Winter. That's a pretty name" his said so charmingly "see you around, Winter" he finished.

I watched him as he walked away from my house, I watched him until I couldn't see him anymore, until there was nothing let to watch.

I stood in the middle of my doorway, staring into the sky. I stood there so silently, watching flocks of birds fly by, so freely. My life finally felt complete, but how could I complete my life, with someone that isn't even mine.
