Today was February 2nd, Rin's birthday and of course you were going to celebrate! Although he didn't want you to make a big deal you insisted. You were going to make sure that this was going to be one of the greatest birthdays he's had!
You started out by planning out a huge party for him which didn't work out at the end but we'll get to that.
First you got decorations but since this was a bit last minute because Rin didn't exactly share that his birthday is coming up. You were shocked when you found out and very stressed. You did end up getting the decorations but they were either old ones or not that big or fancy.
Next was invitations. You began calling all of his friends from Samezuka and Iwatobi but some didn't answer or were busy. So it was just you...and him.
Well that was no worries since a small party just made up of you and Rin was fine. You were still going to follow your plan and continue on with the small party and you had plenty of time since Rin was still at practice. You rushed over to the bakery to get a cake but it turns out they were closed early since it was Sunday!
'Damnit...' You thought to yourself not sure what to do next but then it struck you! You would bake your own cake for him since you couldn't get one already made. That obviously ended up a disaster. You didn't have most of the ingredients so it turned out small, you did make a mess but not as big, but worst of all frosting and decorating the cake was the hardest. First, deciding what flavor and colors to use was difficult but making the shapes and words were harder. The words began mashing together so it looked like 'Rn Mtsoka" which didn't make any sense but it still looked kinda pretty at the end.
At the end you looked like a mess and also good thing you already got him a present. You decided to change until you got a text from Sosuke.
'Hey. Rin's on his way.'
Seeing the text freaked you out. You didn't know how long he was going to be here but by the time you were going to change the door opened.
"[Name]! I'm home!" You instantly recognized the voice. You gulped and hid by the table, closing the light on your way.
"SURPRISE!" You yelled jumping up. Rin wearing a confused look walked forward taking a look around, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" You said finishing.
Having a little confetti popper in your hand you pulled the string and it made a small sound at least clearing the silence. You stared at him while staying in a happy pose with a wide smile while he just stared back at you so surprised...in a way at least.
"You did this..?" You looked at him and back at the cake still keeping your expression but a bit nervous, "Umm...Yeah...?" You answer not sure if it wasn't obvious enough. "I know it looks horrible but I didn't have much time! I'm sorry it was the best I could do." You said with more detail, your expression changed to a disappointment one. Suddenly you felt two arms around you, "Thank you..." Rin said with a mumble hugging you strongly. Ever since moving to Australia Rin hasn't spent his birthdays with family or someone he really cared about. Not wanting to show so much happiness he lays your head against his chest blocking your view of his face, a blushing Rin.
For the rest of the night you both enjoyed cake including him questioning who 'Rn Mtsoka' and opened up his presents, you also took a bunch of pictures.
