The smell of freshly brewed coffee quickly filled my room. I reached over to look at the time on my phone, it read 8:26 a.m. My dad was heading out the door to work, at the sheriff station. I slowly unravel myself from my soft, comforting linen bed sheets.

Looking out my window to the forest behind my house I spotted Derek Hale. I could see him walking, making his way to my window. Him and I have been dating for about 2 months now and I think I love him. Derek is my other half, he completes me. Every day I'm with him, every second I look into his eyes, I fall in love again.

He finally climbs in through my window, tripping over my baseball bat, falling into my arms. He looks up at me and instantaneously locks his lips with mine.

"Well hello to you too." I said with a smirk.

"I missed you," Derek said, "it was a long two days."

My dad doesn't know about my secret relationship with Derek. I spend the weekends with my dad now because he works from 9 in the morning until 11:30 at night unless they need him longer, so I barely spend time with him.

Derek has been on my case lately about telling my dad, I just can't seem to find the right moment to tell him. I plan to tell him soon, I just wonder if I will have the courage to tell him my deepest secret.

Derek grabs me by the waist and pulls me towards him for a long, passionate kiss. It felt refreshing since I haven't seen Derek in two whole days!

"So what are our plans for today?" I ask Derek.

"I was thinking we could go back to my place and hangout there." I agree, and slip into the bathroom for a quick shower.

I come out to an empty bedroom, again. I put on a t-shirt and basketball shorts. I went to reach for my car keys, only to find them missing. I walk downstairs to grab a piece of left over pizza from the fridge when I get distracted from a car engine running outside; my car engine. I walk outside and see Derek in the drivers seat.

"Get in loser."

I hopped in the car and right away I could tell he had something on his mind but I didn't say anything. We pulled up to his house and the only car I saw in the driveway was Derek's black camaro. We got out of my jeep and we walked to the door when Derek started talking.

"There's something I need to tell you..."

"What? Are you breaking up with me?!" I shouted, starting to get worried.

"NO! OHMYGOD NO. That's the complete opposite of what I'm going to talk to you about."

"Oh, okay, well, what?"

"How about we sit down and talk about this."

"Uhm.. Okay?" I was really confused.

We went in and went straight to his bedroom. My palms were getting sweaty and my heart started racing, Derek looked at me.

"It's not that, don't get too excited." I was disappointed. It has been 2 months and I'm still a virgin. We say on his bed and it was quiet for a minute until Derek broke the silence.

"Remember that day at the beach with Boyd and Erica?"

"Yeah, when we found out they're mates? OHMYGOD IS ERICA PREGNANT?!"

"No." Thank god. They were definitely not ready to be parents.

"Oh"

"I'm just going to say it... We. You and I... Are... Um..."

"What!" I was getting frustrated.

"We're mates, Stiles!" I didn't know how to comprehend this information. I was obviously happy but how is that possible?

"How is that even possible?"

"I don't know but there is a very large down side to all of this mate stuff..."

"Oh god... Lay it on me. Pun intended" I smiled at him.

"For you and I to have the mate connection, we both need to be werewolves."

"And what happens if I'm not a werewolf?"

"We won't have the connection. We will just have a regular relationship." I did not want that. I wanted to be his mate.

"Then I want you to turn me."

"Stiles, I cant take that risk."

What are the chances of me dying, honestly. Just because Paige couldn't survive the bite, doesn't mean I can't.

"I want to be your mate, Derek."

"I know you do, and I want to be your mate. But I can't risk losing you! I lose everybody that I love but I'm not losing you. Not this time."

"Derek, I'm strong! I cant take the bite!" By now we were yelling.

"Just because your strong, doesn't mean the bite will take! I cant lose you like I lost Paige!" I could see his eyes growing red but not the alpha red, the teary red. The red like he was about to break down crying like a child.

Stiles' P.O.V

"Derek..." I sighed hugging him, he was now balling his eyes out in the crook of my neck, leaving puddles of tears staining my shirt.

"Stiles..." he paused for a second.

"I can't risk it. I was in love with a girl that got bit by an alpha." I already knew the story but I listened, not wanting to interrupt him and possibly upset him further.

"She didn't turn. I held her almost lifeless body in my arms all night, holding her hand, extracting her pain." He started hyperventilating and crying uncontrollably. I held him in my arms softly rubbing his back, drawing comforting '8' motions on his back with my finger.

"Shhh. It's okay." I said with a soothing voice. A few minutes later, his outrageous sobs turned into soft whimpers.

"Finally she asked me if she was going to die and I nodded. She couldn't take the pain anymore so I sat her up in my arms and crushed her, collapsing her lungs. Peter took her from my arms and I stayed there for days regretting it." He took a deep breath. "And I don't want to have to go through that again with you."

I took his shaky, unsteady hand into mine, bringing it to my lips, kissing it softly before squeezing it lightly.

"Okay we don't need to talk about it anymore." I said to him in a loud whisper.

I grabbed the box of tissues he had sitting on his nightstand. I knew why he had those there and let me tell you, Derek hasn't cried in 10 years. If you know what I mean.

"Lets go downstairs, I'll make you blueberry pancakes." He looked at me with excitement.

It was only 9:15 in the morning and I'm sure he didn't eat before he came to my house. After making the pancakes, I washed all the dishes including his plate so he didn't have to do them later.

"I'm sorry for bringing the whole me changing to a werewolf thing..." I felt really bad because I basically made him cry.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for ruining your shirt."

"Don't worry about it, I dressed comfy today."
