CHAPTER FIVE: SEBASTIAN

I have to hand it to Fabian, for a total goof-ball, he can be pretty handy when he wants to be. Like back there at the diner, I thought Jason was going to implode trying to keep his voice all professional, and then to have salt poured into his eyes, that really had to sting, not that I feel sorry for him. When he was looking down at Iris, intimidating him, threatening to fire him, I just wanted to knock him out! But that wouldn't have worked because even if it did feel good (I'm pretty sure it would have) we still wouldn't have Iris...

I look down at the squirming little body in my arms. I guess he doesn't agree with my reasoning. When Alexander and I took him out of the diner, he tried to scream so I covered his mouth with my hand, and although he seems to have given up on getting help from the people on the street, he's still trying desperately to get me to let him go. Poor little thing, he really doesn't understand what we're trying to do here.

Hmm... Is it considered kidnapping when the person you're taking is your soul mate?

A good time to think about it, but... Oh, well! He'll understand soon enough. But still, I should probably try to put him down now; some of the passer-bys are starting to give us strange looks, and the last thing we need is for one of them to call the police. Nothing ruins a first date quite like sirens and armed officers pointing their guns at you -- I speak from experience...

I tap Alexander on the shoulder and gesture to a nearby alley... and sure enough! It's the same alleyway from this afternoon! Funny how some things keep coming back into your life.

I smile down at Iris, but he isn't looking at me. Right now he's trying to pry my hands off of his mouth.  This has gone on for too long.

"Okay, little one. Now, I want you to listen to me. Can you do that for me? I know you're thinking we mean to hurt you, but we're not, I promise you. Now, I'm going to set you down gentl-- ow!"

Iris had finally wiggled one of his legs free of my grasp, and the result was him kicking me in the face. Alex's hand flew up to cover his mouth, trying to crush the laughter I knew was creeping up in him, and I was right there with him. Not only was I totally not expecting something like that from Iris, but apparently neither was he! As soon as his foot collided with my right cheek, he went completely still, and the look of pure horror on his face was priceless! I couln't help it, I just started laughing!

"Well, alright, little one. If that's how you feel, I'll just set you down right here!"

Lifting up his little body, I laid Iris down ontop of a garbage bin, and patted his knee to let him know I wasn't angry. Iris's electric signals told me he had calmed down, but that he felt guilty, so guilty in fact, he stopped looking at me and was staring at his toes intently. That part touched me a little bit... He was actually concerned for me? Even after I basically kidnapped him and forced him to come along with us against his will? Does that mean that he feels some little bit of connection to us? Or maybe that's just his personality? Either way, he's so sweet... I love him so much, and I want him to understand that, now more than ever.

"Hey, Iris?" He tentatively looked up at me (Those big brown eyes!). "Hi, there little one. Are you alright?" I waited. His eyes flicked from my concerned smile to Alexander's curious one, then back to mine. He nodded. I hear Alexander let out a sigh of relief, and even I relax a little. "That's good. I was afraid we tainted your image of us just taking you with us like that. I'm glad you're okay."

Iris blushed at the sincerity in my voice, and then coughed into the crook of his arm. That's when I noticed how hard he was breathing. Without thinking, I reached up and cradled his cheek in my hand, and gently turned his face so that he was looking at me. He looked surprised, but he didn't pull away; instead he locked his gaze with mine, and the vulnerability I saw there made my heart skip with desire. I wanted to take him home right then, just steal him away from the rest of the world, take him to bed and steal that innocence laying in the depths of his heart...
