CHAPTER ELEVEN: IRIS
I woke up the morning after the party in between the two sleeping brothers. My cheek was tender, and my stomach still felt like there was a knife poking into it every time I tried to move, but oddly enough, I had never felt safer... Even though my psychopathic ex-boyfriend was out there somewhere roaming the streets, I knew in my heart that Sebastian and Alexander would do everything in their power to protect me.
As I shifted under the covers, trying to sneak out of bed without alerting either brother, I felt a hand brush against my hair. I looked over, and Sebastian was smiling at me. I guess he was a lighter sleeper than his brother.
"Trying to escape, little one?"
I blushed and ducked my head hoping he wouldn't see how much having his fingers playing with my hair was effecting me.
"You make it sound like I'm not allowed to leave..."
Sebastian sat up in bed, and watched me. I really wished he'd look away. Having his eyes on me, taking in everything, was getting me all worked up and I didn't want him to see me in such an embarrassing situation.
I was starting to get very uncomfortable when his voice made me jump.
"It isn't that you can't leave, little one. I would just feel better if you wouldn't go anywhere on your own. If you don't have a problem with it, I'd like to have Alexander and I escort you wherever you need to go from now on until this whole situation with Zachary is resolved."
"I honestly have no problem with that!"
He smiled at me, and I smiled back. Like I already said, I have never been in safer company.
Sebastian suggested getting breakfast, and the two of us walked down to the kitchen, leaving a sleeping Alexander in the bedroom. Sarah and Ignacia were already cooking omelets for each other (in between making out) and quickly took our orders for us. I wanted to make mine myself, just because I felt awkward having the two of them waiting on me in their own home when technically I wasn't even supposed to be here, but Sarah wouldn't let me anywhere near the kitchen utensils. I had a vegetarian omelet, and Sebastian had a traditional cheese omelet. We were just settling down to eat at the dining room table when Alexander came hurtling down the stairs, still in his boxer shorts, and with his hair all messed up.
"You guys are having breakfast without me? Why the hell didn't you wake me up?"
"I-I'm sorry!"
"Don't apologize, little one. Alexander is just trying to manipulate you. And anyway, when Alex is asleep, he doesn't wake up. Period."
"Shut up! That's a lie!"
"No it isn't. I'm your brother. You think I don't know this stuff about you? Oh! Little one, I have so many things to tell you about Alexander's--"
"DON'T TELL HIM SUCH THINGS YOU JERK!"
"Another time then."
"OH NO YOU WON'T!"
I laughed listening to them bicker back and forth. It felt good to be a part of a family again...
Gasp. Did I really just say 'a family?'
I looked around the table at the people who have somehow become a part of my life. Sebastian and Alexander weren't my boyfriends, and yet they acted like we were so much more than that. Ignacia had taken me under her roof without even thinking twice. She considered Sebastian and Alexander her little brothers, so I guess my connection to them is what made her so fond of me; enough to convince her to let me stay in her home. And then there's Sarah... She was practically my mother in all of this craziness. As soon as we met, she took an immediate attachment to me, and I was so glad she did. It's been so long since anyone had cared for me like a son that to suddenly have it again made me want to curl up in Sarah's lap and cry.
