Clarke's pregnancy has been nearing its end. Things haven't been smoothly the entire time and lately she has been paying more visits to Arkadia than she would have preferred. But as far as she was concerned the baby was healthy and getting ready to be born.
Lexa has defeated the Ice Nation and every clan that decided to side with her. Since then she has always been proud of Clarke and never has she tried to ignore her again. Clarke moved into her room after her pregnancy started causing sleeping problems.
"I must train Nightbloods today," Lexa announced. "Some are ready to become warriors. I must observe their test."
Clarke nodded. She was still in bed, rubbing her large stomach. The baby was kicking her constantly and Clarke was looking forward to meeting the little Sky commander. "Be safe."
Lexa bent down and slowly kissed Clarke. "You too." She placed her hand on Clarke's belly and felt a kick on her palm. She pressed a kiss on the belly and left.
Clarke has spent most of her morning alone. She took a warm bath, changed into her casual clothes and had some food. Since the war among clans ended she has been able to walk around Polis freely. Well, with Octavia by her side. Lexa convinced Indra to continue training Octavia and then promoted her in Clarke's personal warrior. Clarke was walking through the market when an odd pain hit her stomach and she winced.
"Wow," Octavia said, quickly grabbing her arm. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Clarke said and straightened her back. "I think I'm having Braxton hicks. Or something. Don't worry."
Octavia nodded. "I still think it's super weird that you had sex with the commander and got pregnant. Earth surely isn't what it was before," she commented and laughed.
"Imagine my surprise," Clarke said. She accepted an offered meat from a nice lady behind the food market. "Mochof," she said, thanking her. She took a bite and moaned as it melted on her tongue. "Do you miss Arkadia?"
Octavia and Lincoln have been staying in Polis since the war ended. Lincoln's kill order was lifted and for the first time in her life Octavia truly felt like she belonged somewhere. She has been training with Indra and other warriors, occasionally moving from Polis to TonDC and then back. "Not really. I miss Bell, but he visits sometimes. And Raven is here like every other week."
Clarke laughed. "I still don't know why she's buying broken parts from that little boy, fixing them and then selling them back."
"I think it just gives her something to do," Octavia commented and a few minutes later Clarke groaned, clutching onto her stomach. "Do you need me to get Lexa?"
"No, no," Clarke quickly dismissed her.
"If something happens to you or Sky commander baby I'm dead," Octavia reminded her. "And if you're having contractions, now would be a good time to tell me. If Lexa misses this, I'm also dead. She's insanely protective you know this."
Clarke nodded and laughed. "Take me to the healer first. If these are contractions it could take hours and I don't think I can handle Lexa hovering over me for hours."
Octavia did as she was told.
"Your contractions have started," the woman confirmed in a thick English accent. "I need to call heda, she will want to know."
"No," Clarke yelped. "Don't tell her yet. Octavia, contact Raven and told her to meet us on our usual spot with the jeep. I'm doing this in Arkadia."
"Are you sure?" Octavia asked. "The commander is going to be pissed. It's a miracle. Her people will want it to happen here."
Clarke sighed. She knew this. And she has been thinking about this for long enough. "I know. Which is why we need to be discreet about this. I know Lexa would want me to have a baby here but quite frankly I'm unsure of their methods. My mom has delivered before and I need her for this."
