Wishes

Periwinkle

I walked into the kitchen,and I saw Brady and my mom sitting eating chocolate chip pancakes. Brady's back is turned away from me but my mom's is not.She sees me and smiles a little,I smile as I put my finger to my lip to tell her not to say anything. I sneak up on Brady just as he says " April probably just went back to bed as soon as I left" He says laughing. "I wouldn't be too sure about that" mom says. I sneak up behind him trying not to laugh...then suddenly I pounce and he nearly falls out of his chair in fear. Me on the other hand,I fall to the floor in laughter. My mom is also laughing and says "I told you". Brady turns around trying his best to look evil while at the same trying to not laugh at himself. He says to me" I will get my revenge dearie, if that's the last thing I do!!" He then starts laughing along with me. My dad comes in looking confused and still a little sleepy, he asks " What's so funny?" This only makes us laugh harder.
Later that day when we are all out shopping, I ask my parents if I can get a kitten and they agree because they said they think I am responsible enough. So after we get back home, me and Brady hop in his car and go to the animal shelter. When we get there a lady at the desk greets us and tells us her name is Ms.Kalyn and asks what kind of animal we are looking for. We ask where are the kittens. Brady whispers to me as we follow behind Ms.Kalyn, " I will help take care of your kitten April" I whisper back "thank you". She leaves us too look at the kittens and tells us when we pick one to come get her. We look at them all and I want to have them all but I know I can only pick one. The very last one in the row is a black cat with the eyes the color of a light periwinkle. I call Brady over to look at her and he says this is her, we have to get her. He runs and gets Ms.Kalyn and they come back. " Are you sure this is the one you want?" she asks. "Yes I'm positive" "Ok" " Follow me Brady and come fill out the forms. They leave and them I start thinking of a name for her. Rose? No... maybe Callie? No....Periwinkle!! That's it!! That's what I'll call her! I whisper" Periwinkle to see if she will respond to me. She meows and walks to where I am. I reach over the fence and pick her up. Brady and Ms. Kalyn come back in. "Are you ready to go April?" "Yeah I'm coming" As me and Brady walk out the door, he asks me" so what did you name her?" " how do you know that I already came up with one?" He rolls his eyes at me and says "April I have know you forever, I know  you " "Ok fine you got me,I picked a name."I smile sheepishly."Her name is...Periwinkle."
