"Dad, I love it here."

"I know ilsa, why else would I let us move here?"

"Because you like Heather."

I said with a teasing, cheeky smile.
Dad blushed

"No!"

We both laughed, I knew my life was finally shaping together.
Ryleigh burst in through the door.

"Uncle Charlie can we go and explore?"

"Give me a second to unpack and we can have a look around the area and see if the is anywhere to eat tonight."

"Yay"

Me and ry smiled.
I went down the matt cream spiral stairs and sat on our black suade modern settee. I grabbed the cream cushion and hugged it. Ryleigh ran down the stairs and threw herself onto the sofa just next to me.

"Who would have thought a week ago that we would be here right now."

"Yeah."

I sighed to process my thoughts. I smiled at her. I admired her outlook on life.
"Comon' let's go!"
Dad came down the stairs with his arm around Heather.
It was only twelve thirty and I was knackered. We walked alongside the beach with ice creams in our hands. Sticky but refreshing. The were families laughing and playing.
That's us now. But I wouldn't consider us family. We live together, we love each other and we sometimes hate each other. I suppose we are sort of like a family, except Heather isn't my mum. And the same with dad and Ryleigh. A good friend knows your stories, but a best friend has lived them with you.

We walked along the sea front, the were miles of resturants and shops. One restaurant stood out imparticular. It was called 'the beach hut'.

"Here?"

Dad turned and frowned with a questionable expression.
We had dinner at the beach hut. I was stuffed.

"I feel so sorry for my ankles"

Ryleigh laughed. I smiled and searched my head for a response. I had always felt awkward in these situations; so I tried to change the subject.

"Haha, don't be silly! What's the time? "

"3:30"

"Yay, not to late. So are we going back to the room ?"

They all laughed.

"You mean 'home' ?"
Heather gave me a sarcastic round of aplause. Dad looked at her in admiration.

"And yeah"

Dad smiled and edged my shoulder to direct us in the direction of the apartment.
