Zoned Out on Thoughts

After Chris told me what he knew, it all got stuck into my head. I was sure there was more to it and I wanted him to spill it out, but we got interrupted. It wasn't just the bell that interrupted us, but Ruby also decided to join us. It was then decided that the conversation would have to be continued afterwards, when Ruby wasn't around.

It's not because we want to leave him out, but he being in the middle, in the gang in which hates me, would be putting him in a tight place. I know deep down he knows what's coming. But he hasn't said or warned me about anything. These are the times in which I hate Ruby. I hate him for being in a gang and for befriending me as well.

I know I'm going to die. It's a gang after one person. There's no way out but death when it comes to gangs. Even if time goes by, one way or another it will come back and bite me in the future.

I had been spacing out in all of my classes ever since that conversation. Not saying anything nor pretending to at least pay attention. When it comes to my education, I take it seriously. I may not participate in class discussions but I do focus. Except for today, today is just not the day to focus when there are bigger problems to focus about.

In my 1st period class I just sat in my normal seat, not even joking with my teacher. I just saw movement going on around me, but didn't care much to find out what was going on. Same went for all my morning classes. People trying to talk to me but I was just zoning them out.

Right now I stood in line to get lunch. I had my earbuds in, hearing music. But I was mostly thinking, thinking about what Chris told me.

Robert was back. Robert is the cruelest, could even say heartless, gang leader that was after me. How did I get involve with him? If I would've known that a simple remark would have started a war....I would have kept my big mouth shut. Sad thing? That what I said only made him get interested in me, which led to many other events.

I was suddenly pushed from behind. I turned around glaring at whoever it had been to only find out it was Chris. He knew somehow after what he told me I would be thinking about it, so all he offered me was a head nod. I rolled my eyes and turned back around. Finished getting my lunch and walked to the usual table outside, the farthest and isolated one where Chris, Ruby, and I would sit at.

When I got there, Ruby was already sitting there, eating a poor kid's lunch as usual, stealing kids lunch. I shook my head at him as I sat in front of him. Chris sitting beside me as soon as he got to the table.

"Let's cut to the chase, shall we? Ya two are hiding something from me. Now spill!" Ruby let out annoyed.

I smiled, "We can't. You, my annoying dickhead must be kept out of this. It's the 911 shit." I started eating the spicy chicken tenders given for lunch. The only decent and delicious food the school gave.

Ruby's eyes widened, understanding right away, but soon he got annoyed. "You know I hate times like these." He poked the fork hard into a chicken breast.

I nodded to him as I was still eating. Chris eating in silence probably thinking. Soon he got a text on his phone. I let him be knowing I'll know if it's something important. I had just eaten only one tender and I was already gasping from the spiciness. Making Ruby laugh at my misery.

"You're supposed to be used to eating spicy shit, you're Hispanic." Ruby laughed.

"I swear I hate you." Was my only response as I started bouncing in my seat hoping the spiciness would go away somehow. I still had 3 more to go and I wasn't going to let them go to waste.

"Bouncing isn't going to make it go away, you dumbass." Ruby kept making fun of me.

"Well, be a damn good friend and get me something to drink, this stupid small milk isn't going to cut it." I replied back aggressively. The dickhead only laughed harder, making me glare at him, yet I continued eating those tenders still bouncing around my seat.
