Chapter 13

Zach pov

The following 48 hours after rescuing Cammie were crucial. If we could put all of our information together and finally go in at last to save Luke and destroy The Eye. Naturally, the next two days went by in a blur. Everything was going by too fast, it seemed like them was no time left.

For the most part Cammie was asleep. She needed to rest and it gave her body time to heal itself on its own. However, we still gave her proper medical attention. When she woke up the first day we brought her back, we made her go through a series of medical tests to make sure nothing was permanent or seriously wrong with her. It took a while, and she got irritated that she had to go through some extraneous scans, I was thankful for it. I needed to reassure myself that she will heal over time.

Cammie thought that going through the necessary and some of the slightly unnecessary scans was frustrating. I was glad she was getting proper medical attention but it still didn't keep me from getting angry. Well saying I was angry would be putting it lightly. I punched a hole in the wall. I couldn't stand seeing all the injuries on her. She had bruises everywhere and scars, both new ones and old running up and down her legs. Seeing what they done to her made me snap. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the people who did this to her. I won't hold back the next time we meet. They will pay for what they have done to her.

On a more positive side, Abby and Rachel arrived a few hours ago. They said they had information but it would be too risky to tell it over the phone so they wanted to come in person. That, and they also wanted to see Cammie. We were all glad she was back in our lives.

We all gathered in the living room a few minutes after Abby and Rachel arrived. They left Jonas with Professor Buckingham.

It was a little crowded in the small living room with all of us in there, but we managed to survive. Cammie was the first to speak, divulging into her story.

She explained how her mission briefings meant nothing and that the director withheld information from her. She found out the hard way when she was tailed, followed into an alleyway, beaten up and then drugged. Cammie mentioned how she was constantly interrogated and when she refused to tell them any classified information they tortured her. She never cracked, not giving up any information.

I realized in her explanation she glossed over the details of her injuries. She didn't heavily go into detail about what they used to do to her after an interrogation. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who noticed, and I won't be the one to question it. When she is ready she will tell us what happened to her, even though we have a pretty good guess from her injuries.

Once again, she brought up only seeing Luke twice. That was not as suspicious in comparison to what one of the guards hinted at when we were in a cell together. Cammie explained that the guard hinted that there was something very big and obvious that we were missing. I kept thinking back on the figure I saw in the window smiling. It was clearly evident something was eluding us. All the signs pointed to it. It frustrated me that I had no idea what it could be. And it turns out I'm not the only one.

My best guess would be that it has to do with Luke. I find it strange that we know so little about him,

Rachel began talking next. She explained ow they kept a close eye on Jonas and tried several interogation tactics on him. He didn't reveal much but what he did was important. The Eye was a much bigger organization than we gave them credit for. It seems as if we are always underestimating them and it comes back to bite us.

Their cover is to look like a regular organization with evil intentions. It's similar to the Gallagher Academy's cover of being a school for rich girls. The Eye is smart, and cunning and they always manage to become one step ahead of us.
