As we walked up to the door, we glanced at each other with a half smile. I knew how excited we were, so all we wanted to do was to go inside. We walked in, and all eyes were on us. We have our "prize-winning" smiles and most people just smiled back. As we walked through the house, we noticed most of the teenagers were Juniors, but there were a few Sophomores and even some Seniors! No Freshman dared to come to a Junior party unless they were friends with the hostess.
Tori and I walked into the kitchen to get a drink. There wasn't much to pick from, so we just decided to get punch. Then we noticed a sign on the bowl, it read "Contains alcohol."
"Don't drink too much Sam.. Be careful." Tori said.
I was somewhat offended.
"Don't worry. I'm not gonna." I told her assuringly.
We drank some punch, then we heard footsteps coming closer. As Tori's eyes widened, I turned around. It was him. Drew Bradley. I have to admit it, he looked irresistibly handsome. But I was just a Sophomore, and I wasn't rich. I didn't have a chance, right?
"You look.. Stunning. What's your name?" He said as he looked directly into my eyes.
I hesitated, "It's uh.. Um.. It's.."
"Her name is Samantha." Tori told him, seeing that I was struggling to get the words out. Why was he talking to me? I was just some poor Sophomore..
"That's beautiful just like you, Samantha." He said with a cheeky smile.
I blushed, "Thank you. And uh, what's your name?" I didn't want him to think I knew him, I was trying to be a little mysterious.
"Drew, Drew Bradley. I think I've seen you around school, right?"
"Yeah!" I said smiling. He noticed me! One of the popular, rich Juniors noticed me. "I'll uh, see you later, maybe?"
"I hope so." He said with a subtle wink.
Tori and I walked away and wondered around the house. It was bigger then our school, literally. There were tons of rooms, and most of them had people in them. We walked up to the third story of the house, and Tori saw her ex boyfriend. He was alone, and I knew Tori would want to go say Hi. "Just go, I'll be right here waiting though, so don't take too long." I told her.
Just as Tori walked away, I noticed Drew coming up the stairs.
"So I guess you were right, Samantha. We would see each other again. Where's your friend?" He asked as he looked around.
"She's just with some other friends.. I didn't want to go with them. I was just looking around." I replied, kind of nervously.
"Oh, so you're alone?" He smiled.
"Well yeah, I guess I am." I said with a slight giggle.
"Samantha, could I show you something?"
"Yeah, sure." I said, a little curious.
We walked up another flight of stairs. I was going to ask him where we were going, but I decided to just keep following him. After a minute if silence, he lead me to a door on the top floor.
"Well, here we are. You ready?" He said excitedly.
"Uh yeah.." I said chuckling.
He opened the door and revealed a beautiful starlit midnight sky. It was truly breathtaking. I was speechless.
"How is it?" He asked me.
"It's... Amazing." I said , still in awe.
He grabbed my hand gently and took me towards the railing. We were the only ones up there. He grabbed my waist as we stepped up to the railing, and I jumped a little because I didn't expect it.
"Samantha, I know we just met.. But I have to ask you something.." He said as he looked deep into my eyes.
