You smiled as the wind whipped your hair around your face. It was cold and crisp, setting your skin to tingling when it brushed against you. The bench underneath you was hard, but you had been sitting there long enough that you could no longer feel it, your bum going numb. Your smile grew. Sure it was cold, you were probably wet even though you couldn't feel it, and the coat you were wearing did little to help, but you were happy. Why? Your violin. It was tucked gently under your chin, your fingers gracefully dancing across its strings, and it's bow pulling beautiful notes from it with every stroke. That was what made you truly happy, doing what you loved and bringing a little bit of joy to the world.

The notes to Little Drummer Boy floated in the air around you, stretching out across the park. A little girl in a bright red coat and scarf tugged at her fathers hands, stopping them in front of you. The smile that blossomed across her face only served to make you smile even more, if that was possible. As the last note faded from your instrument she looked up at you with wide shining eyes.

"That was beautiful." She whispered, her breath floating in a cloud about her head.

"Why thank you. Would you like to try?"

"Really?!"

"No darling, we don't want to bother the woman." The father looked slightly annoyed at his daughters interest in you, a stranger.

"It really is no trouble. That's why I'm hear, anyway. To spread the joy." You smiled up at him as you knelt on the ground to be at the child's level.

"Okay, so it's really easy, all you do is hold it like this..." You carefully handed over the violin and showed the young girl how to handle it. It was a bit big for her, but she managed. "You're doing great. Now I'm gonna shoe you where to place your fingers to make different notes." Within a few moments you had the little human playing a simple four note tune. "Wonderful job!"

She looked up at her father, face beaming, and his put out demeanor melted away. "Daddy! I want to play the violin all the time!"

"I think that that would be a wonderful idea. I can look into lessons as soon as we get home, okay darling."

"Okay!" She handed the violin back to you. "Thank you!"

"Thank you," The man said, dropping a twenty in the case that was open at your feet. "She hasn't smiled like this since her mother died."

"Like I said, I'm hear to spread the joy. Have a good winter and a great Christmas." You smiled as the man and his daughter walked away, her red coat disappearing into the crowd of people.

"That was beautiful." A deep voice said from behind you. You spun to see a tall man in a trench coat. Your eyes trailed up, past a blue tie to a set of equally blue eyes.

"Um, thanks?" You fidgeted a bit, unused to attention from handsome men. "I haven't played yet?"

"I am speaking of the child. You made her happy. I think that is beautiful." His eyes never left yours, his concentration was kinda creepy, but at the same tim you found it enchanting.

"Thank you." You smiled, a blush flooding your cheeks. God, you hoped he thought it was because of the cold.

"Could you play for me?"

"Of course," You sat back down, the man sitting beside you, stiff and straight. After a moment of thinking and chewing your lip you brought the instrument up and began to play. The sweet strains of What Child Is This filled the air. A slow smile spread across the man's face, causing adorable crinkles to form around his striking eyes. After the song was finished you expected him to leave but instead he continued to sit where he was. So you continued to play. You had almost depleted your Christmas repertoire and your fingers were turning blue when the man stood.

"You are cold. I understand that when one is cold they find a coffee shop. I also under stand that when on is attracted to another that they invite them to partake in the drinking of coffee. Would you like to join me in the search for a place to consume coffee?"

"I don't know your name." Your words said no, but your smile said yes. His speech was funny, but romantic. How could you resist?

"I am Castiel. And you are?"

"Y/n."

"Well Y/n, would you like to join me?" The way your name rolled of his tongue was frankly beautiful.

"Yes, I would love to join you, Castiel." You stood and packed away your violin and started to walk beside him.

"Can I carry that for you?"

"How do I know you wont just steal it and run?" Your tone was that of a joking manner.

"I promise I will do no such thing." His was that of complete seriousness.

"Well then, yes, thank you very much." He took the case in his hand, his fingers brushing against yours as he did so. Butterflies erupted in your stomach.

"Your music is very beautiful, Y/n, just like you. I would never wish to take it away from you. It is very obvious how much you love it."

"Thank you." You blushed again, glancing down at your shoes. A warm finger tapped your chin making you look up into his smiling face. This man was too smooth of this own good.
