Best Friends: A Four Swords Legend

Chapter 3

Shadow's PoV

I hear crackling and faded voices.

What happened? Where am I? I question myself. Memory flashes back. Vaati escaped. Skeletons. The four annoying brats.

Why did I help them? Vio betrayed me after all... Was it because Vaati will kill me if I go back? I begin to ask myself. I hear the voices die down as my consciousness returns.

"Alright! I'll take first watch so get your sorry butts asleep and stop arguing!" I hear someone shout and the others fall silent. Vio? Wow. I've never heard him this angry before. I hear grumbling as two pairs of footsteps go somewhere, grumbling.

" I-I'm s-sorry Vio." I hear Red I think.

"It's not your fault Red. Now go on and get some sleep. You'll need it." Vio replies. I hear reluctant footsteps a couple of moments later. A while later I pry one of my eyes open to see what is going on around me. I see that I am laying on a blanket with another on top of me. There is something like a tarp above me. And Vio is sitting on a log tending to the fire in front of him. I close my eye and think for a while. I know I won't be able to go back to Vaati because of the mirror.

Perhaps he'd accept me if I brought back a certain violet clone. I think. That thought is soon cut off by someone brushing their hand up against my head. I unconsciously lean into it and hear someone chuckle.

"Knew you were awake Shads." Vio says, using his old nickname for me.

"Five more minutes." I grumble. I feel Vio poke my side and I freeze. My eyes fly open and I stare at him. Vio is using one of my weaknesses against me here. He starts wiggling his finger and I squirm. Trying not to laugh. He soon attacks me with both hands and I erupt in to a fit of giggles. Dang it.

"S-st-stop V-vio!" I whisper/shout trying to stop laughing and he pulls away snickering. I sit up and elbow him then jump as I see the sun peering over the mountains. I don't notice I am clinging to Vio for dear life until he starts tapping me.

"Shads. It isn't burning you." He says. I look down and see my feet are in the light. Then, using one hand to hold on to Vio, I put the other into the light, carefully. And it doesn't burn. I carefully make my way out into the light and it still doesn't burn. Then I put my head out and pull back, covering my eyes.

"Here." Vio says putting his hand over his eyes.

"Doing this helps." He says. I stare at him, not sure if I should believe him, before going back out into the sunlight. I put my hand over my eyes when the pain hits. Vio was right. It helps. I stand there for a couple of moment before a strange sensation fills me. It makes me happy. I let out a chuckle and it soon turns into a laugh of happiness. I twirl in the grass while laughing, as this feeling this sunlight gives you fills me with happiness. It makes me start to question what Vaati said about the light being bad. Then I begin to ponder on my previous thoughts of bringing back Vio so Vaati will accept me again.

You know, screw Vaati. I think, as I decide to stay with the brats.

Hello! It is KZ again. Just saying. I don't have a set schedule on any if these stories so updates will be spacey at best. But I hope you enjoyed the change in views here.

I'd also like to thank all those that took the time to look at this story. Also, can you give me some suggestions for plotline and how this story should go? I am having a bit of trouble with writers block past this point in the story.
