It was nearly the end of Kellin's first day at school. He was relieved to know he only had one lesson left and then after that, he could go home and do nothing like he usually did. Kellin wasn't expecting the day to be over just like that though, oh no. What Kellin had in store for him wasn't at all something to look forward to. The rumors were spreading around school already about Kellin's random disappearance in his english lesson. It didn't matter who Kellin walked past, they instantly went silent and looked at him with disgust. Kellin tried to just shake it off, he was used to these kind of reactions from people yet he couldn't stop thinking about the one single individual that gave him a smile. It actually made Kellin smile himself, visualising what happened in the corridor. The way he spoke to him like he was ordinary, just like everybody else yet Kellin's smile soon faded away when he walked into biology, his last class. He repeated his routine that he started since english, he made his way to the back of the class heading towards the empty seat that had been set out for him but as he did, he looked to the side and realised the person sitting next to the empty desk was a certain someone he knew. He then caught Kellin's stare as he looked back and smiled to see they were in the same class together. It was him, the boy who had gave Kellin his first ever apology. He looked back into his deep brown eyes and went to hint a smile yet a gang of boys near his seat held out their feet to trip him up and he fell to the floor with the sound of laughter that was filling up the entire classroom. Kellin hit the ground hard with no intention of getting up whatsoever. He just wanted to fade away. "Hey, what's your fucking problem?" He heard someone yell and the laughter instantly stopped. Kellin looked up from the floor to see the same hand being offered out to him exactly like before. "You okay?" the dark skinned boy asked looking down at him. Kellin nodded before taking his hand and being lifted up by him. "They're all just bastards" he said without a care in the world if they were listening before walking back to his seat with Kellin soon following behind, recieving more stares than he could count.
After a huge mound of talking from his biology teacher for a while, Kellin soon set to work., writing about different cells and body systems. He was sure he was the only one who was focusing on the work as the sound of many voices filled the classroom and nobody was really paying attention to him. "Hey" someone whispered catching Kellin off guard as he instinctively looked up to see who it was. He glanced to the side to see him..the boy who had helped him up twice looking at him. Well..not only was he looking at him, his body was turned facing him, as if he was ready for a conversation. "So, I didn't catch your name. I'm Vic, and you are?" he asked leaning his head to one side. Woah..was he actually interested in Kellin? After a few seconds, Kellin looked into his dark eyes and replied with, "I'm Kellin". Hmm..Vic was a nice name. Kellin hadn't ever came across someone called Vic before. It had a nice ring to it. Vic smiled at Kellin and continued with, "So, how do you like it in Mexico?". Was this really happening? Somebody was actually talking to Kellin? They were actually interested in him? Kellin expected him to say something along the lines of 'why did you move here' or 'go back to wherever you came from' yet he asked how Kellin felt about his new location. This made Kellin feel so warm inside yet he remained calm and quiet as he still couldnt believe that all of a sudden, this boy..Vic was actually speaking to him. "It's alright I guess" Kellin shrugged and Vic then leant his head in his one hand on the desk as if intrigued and urging for more. "Do your family move around alot or something?" he blinked and Kellin just felt even more startled that the conversation was actually lasting. It's as if Vic could read him like an open book. Kellin nodded and Vic smiled, causing Kellin to look away down at the floor hiding the small smile that was starting to appear on his face. It actually hurt him to smile, he hadnt done it in a long time. It's like he had forgotten how to yet only a few words from this so called mexican boy named Vic caused him to twitch a huge grin on his face.
After a while, the bell rang and the class was dismissed. Kellin got up from his seat, scooping up his bag and tucking his in his chair before making his way out the classroom not even considering making eye contact with anybody. He walked quite slow through the corridor when suddenly Vic appeared by his side nearly making him jump. "So where about do you live Kellin?" He asked and Kellin just looked at him, clueless whether he should tell him or not. Vic seemed nice..too nice. And lets face it, Kellin had a strange attraction to him, "Just a few blocks from here, um..down by the canal". Kellin hated the fact that he lived by the canal. He couldn't swim, nobody ever taught him so drowning in the water was one of his top fears aswell as the dark. Kellin always slept with a bit of light in his room. He'd never survive in complete darkness on his own. This was one of the reasons why Kellin always behaved at home and never spoke unless he was spoken to. He had been threatened many times by his adoptive parents that if he didn't behave, they'd lock him up in the cellar which had no light down there what so ever, it was complete darkness and Kellin made sure that this would never ever happen to him as just the thought of it made him scared to the point he felt sick.
"Oh, I live near there too. Maybe we could hang out sometime?" Vic said before giving him a smile. Kellin instinctively nodded before Vic patted him on the back, "See you tomorrow dude" he said, increasing his speed down the corridor, making his way outside. Kellin's mind was so fucking messed up. He didn't understand this. Was this fate? Was this even happening? It felt like it was a dream. A dream that Kellin had always wanted to come true. Somebody to talk to him like he had always been normal and hadn't been alone for as long as he could remember. Vic seemed like the person who didn't care about Kellin's differences. He seemed like a person Kellin could get along with, as long as he kept his secret hidden. Or should we say his weird-ness. Kellin walked the whole way home without taking his mind off this mexican boy that was flooding his mind. Did he actually want to become friends with Kellin? He hoped so. Kellin used all his hope that Vic would talk to him again tomorrow. Maybe he would. Maybe he wouldn't. It was like Kellin was picking the petals off of a daisy that was being created in his head. Vic likes me, he likes me not.
