It has been not even a full week since I graduated from high school. I have been looking desperately for a summer internship for journalism, and right now I am standing in front of the Dallas News Office, waiting for my interview. If I get this internship I would be so ecstatic. Ever since I was little, journalism has been my dream and no matter what I want to be able to achieve this dream. My mom was a journalist, she inspired me... I miss my mom, I hope she is watching me from above. I have been in foster care ever since I was eight years old. Being in foster care, always earned me pity. I don't want pity anymore. No one has ever cared for me genuinely after I lost my true family... I want to be independent, I have always dependent on my foster parents . I want to get this internship because I have to be independent more than anyone else.

My thoughts were interrupted by the office clerk asking for me.

"Rose Duran, Please follow me.” The kind looking clerk said as she leads me through the office door. I follow her with a smile on my face. She tells me to have a seat when we enter a window-walled office.

"You will be interviewed shortly, please feel free to look around.” The clerk told me while giving me a kind and welcoming smile.

After thanking her for her hospitality, I take a seat and begin to look through the magazines sitting on a table in front of me. Usually, I do not read magazines but right now something that caught my eyes on a magazine was about Roger William. Roger is the richest businessman in America. He started his company in London and spread it all around the country. Sure, he sounds charming and all but what makes him different is that he suffers from anterograde amnesia and a short term memory. Anterograde amnesia is when a patient remembers his old memories but does not have a capability to create new ones. They have to depend on notes or pictures to get around. It is revealed that Roger loses his memory every 30 minutes. That is extremely different..

Again, my thoughts were interrupted by Mr.Strother, the CEO of Dallas News.

I honestly did not know that he would be the one interviewing. I thought he would send someone else. All of a sudden my confidence is lowered..

I stand up as Mr. Strother approaches me to show the level of respect I have for him.

“Good afternoon, I am Ryan Strother, I will be interviewing you today.”

“Good afternoon, My name is Rose Duran. Thank you for this opportunity.”

Twenty minutes later, I go out of the office smiling like a maniac! I got the internship! Mr. Strother also let me know that if I do a good job I would be able to continue working for them throughout college!

All I have is one dilemma, for my project, I have to come up with a shocking, eye catching story. Suddenly, my mind wanders me off to the article I read about Roger William in the office. Maybe I can interview him.. but he has not given any interview ever since he was injured because his case has been under criminal investigation.. But for some reason my mind tells me not to give up. For some reason it keeps telling me there is something more to this businessman than just looks and fame. For some reason my unconscious wants me to do this no matter how difficult this could be.

“Well, this will be difficult...” I mumble as get in the cab to go to my foster home.
