Alex went straight to the only person she knew who wouldn't immediately think she was crazy. Piper King was the preacher's daughter in town, and she just happened to go to her school. During gym class she would talk to Piper because after all, they were good friends. Alex was shaking when she asked if she could talk to her.

"Of course," she said, looking concerned, "is everything okay?"

If she was talking to anyone else, maybe she would've said yes, that everything was fine, but she didn't want to lie to Piper. Besides, she needed her help.

"No. I- something's happened, and I need advice." Alex admitted.

"Sure thing. What happened?"

Alex recapped the major events of the past few days- the visit from the angel and everything he'd done; everything he'd tried to say. She was scared out of her wits at this point- no sane person would ever be saying anything like this aloud, would they? Even if it was the truth?

When she was done with her narrative, Piper considered this. It was a few minutes before she spoke. "You said you'd lost faith before, right?" She asked. Alex nodded. One of the things Alex loved about Piper was the fact that she accepted her, regardless of the fact that she had no religion. "Then maybe this is God telling you that he's there for you. He's finally answered your prayers, Alex."

"Why now? After praying for seven years, why would He answer me now? When I need Him less than I did last year or the year before?" Alex protested.

"God works in mysterious ways." Piper pointed out.

"Don't give me that. I've heard people say that before, but there's a fine line between mysterious and downright idiotic nonsense." Alex argued. "This is idiotic nonsense."

Piper didn't argue. She hardly had any idea what Alex should do, but she knew this was some sort of a message from God. That was her faith, anyway. Alex was done talking. While she loved Piper dearly, she could be pretty stubborn sometimes when it came to God. That was one thing they both had in common.

It wasn't until a few days later that things really began to pick up. Not only did the angel come out of the darkness and mirrors, but he also spoke.

Alex took to studying Enochian in her free time. It was, after all, said to be the language of the angels. She figured, if she was going to be stalked, she might as well speak the same language as her stalker. Figure out what he wanted, right?

Apparently, however, that was a lost cause. It was lunchtime when the angel spoke to her. She was in the cafeteria, talking to Jordan and Jessie. There was eventful conversation that she was deeply engaged in when all of the sudden she felt a hand on her shoulder. She whipped around, expecting to see a friend of hers or maybe a teacher she'd mistakenly gotten in trouble with, but there was nothing there. Conversation dropped all of the sudden.

"Are you okay, Al?" Jessie asked, a note of concern in her voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I just thought someone touched my shoulder." Alex confusedly answered. She caught a glimpse of something in Jessie's glasses and turned around again, sure that she'd seen someone standing behind her. Again, there was no one.

"Are you sure?" Jessie asked.

"No. I swear, there's someone-" she cut herself off with a gasp. Someone spoke.

"Alex. It's me. Don't tell me you've forgotten?"

"Alex! What happened?" Jordan cut in as she put a hand to her mouth. She was staring at the table blankly as she listened intently to the voice, which had now died out.

"I... I have to go." Alex stood and made her way to the bathroom, where she was sure she would be able to see the angel, who she knew now was there. But he didn't speak English! He didn't speak at all until now, come to think of it. It was all happening so fast- he could be felt in an open room in the light, but not only that- he spoke English and was inside her head.

"Who are you?" She demanded once she got to the bathroom mirror. She leaned heavily on the sink, staring at the mirror as she expected to see the angel. He didn't answer at first. There was a moment of silence before he appeared in the mirror, clear as day. His hair was shaggy and uncut, chocolate brown so dark it could almost be black, and his eyes were the same green as the forest in the early fall. He wore dirt-clad jeans and a beige suede jacket over a plain black t-shirt. He was only a bit taller than she, and his eyes were amused and pitying at the same time. His shoulders were broad, his arms strong, his features perhaps a bit exaggerated. He did not look like an angel, but rather like a man.

"Alex! Alex, what happened back there? Are you okay?" Jessie said, rushing into the room.

"Yes, I'm... I'm fine. Do you see this?" She asked, gesturing to the mirror. Jessie approached the glass, standing beside her and looking into its surface.

"It's you. And me. What about it?"

Alex shook her head. "Never mind." She said, realizing that Jessie clearly couldn't see the angel. "I just need a minute alone, if that's okay."

"Yeah," Jessie said worriedly, "that's okay. I'll see you later." She left the room, looking back over her shoulder before she shut the door. Alex turned back and looked into the mirror, where the angel was still standing.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"My name is Samuel. I'm a fallen angel." He explained.

"Fallen? Why?" Alex asked impatiently.

He smiled. "Haven't you read the bible?" He inquired.

Alex shook her head. Ever since she was little she'd tried to read the manuscript, but she'd found it hard. It had gone against most science and things she'd learned outside of church, and after what had happened in her family life, she began to think that every word on those pages was a load of crap. There was no God. Evolution was the reason she existed. No one could give birth and yet be a virgin. No man could part a sea. Perhaps a small man could defeat someone much bigger than him, if given the right circumstances, but the rest was all fiction, in her opinion.

"No." She said. He looked confused, yet delighted.

"Then you really don't know who I am. Well, I advise you to look me up. I'll be around, Alexis." He said, and he was gone. With an annoyed sigh, she left the room, intending to look up the angel Samuel the next opportunity she got.
