*OMGGGG! I haven't updated this in years! I'm soooo sorry for such a late update! > . <
"You're doing a good job today, [Name]. Are you helping the children out tomorrow?""Yes, I am. I'll be out tonight, so you don't need to wait for me, Father." [Name] smiled as she put the box down. The priest nodded and turned back to his work. [Name] wiped down the dusty shelf. She waved good-bye as she walked out of the room.
It was one of her free days at the school. She tutored children usually and watched them while they waited for their parents. It was like a daycare, except she didn't get paid for watching them. It was voluntary, and she did it out of the goodness in her heart.
Since she finished her chores in the chapel, she had spared her time to visit them. And, maybe see him...
It wasn't a far walk, and it went by quickly. [Name] opened the entrance and found the room where the children were all in.
"Oh, hello [Name]-chan." His cheeky smile made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. He was sitting on the ground reading a book to the ten children, who were circled around him.
"Sister [Name]! Rin isn't good at reading!" a small boy exclaimed, pointing at the fairy tale they had chosen.
"He's right. Rin can't read as good as you!" another little girl said. All of the children began to bash on Rin and his reading skills. [Name] giggled and sat down next to them.
"If it's okay with Rin, I can read." Rin reluctantly handed the book to her and fake-sulked, but the children didn't care; they immediately ran to [Name]'s sides.
After an hour of reading and teasing Rin, the children were tired and went to their daily nap. [Name] had tucked them in tightly while Rin was cleaning up the mess they made.
"Sister [Name]? Can I ask you something?" The little girl from before peeked over her covers and whispered to [Name].
"Yes, what is it?"
"I think you and Rin like each other. I think he likes you."
[Name] blushed. "Of course not. We just like to help each other."
The little girl smiled. "It's okay. Rin said he liked you, too. You don't have to pretend." She turned over and closed her eyes.
Slightly red and embarrassed, [Name] looked over her shoulder to see Rin. He was attractive, but she wasn't sure if this was true. He might have been messing with the children and not mean anything that he said.
She did like him; that was one of the few reasons why she came here, but she couldn't be certain that their feelings were mutual.
[Name] saw some movement in the corners of her eyes. She turned her attention towards it and saw Rin gesturing towards her to come to him. She did, slowly and quietly moving to not disturb the children
"What is it?" whispered [Name]. They were sitting by the bookshelf, far from the children.
Rin hesitated. "I was... I was wondering if we could go somewhere after we close the classroom. You know, just someplace." He was a little flustered and avoided eye contact.
[Name] blushed. She fiddled with her fingers before replying. "Uh... Sure." Rin turned to her and gave her a wide grin.
"Okay, I promise to make this the best date ever!" He squeezed her hands before realizing what he had just said.
"A date's okay with you, right?" He asked bashfully. [Name] nodded, and he gave a nervous smile.
Together, they walked quietly to a small cafe. It was the late afternoon, and Rin promised to send her home before dark. They both ordered and sat at a booth, waiting for their meal to be delivered."Do you think this is weird?" asked Rin. He nervously tapped his finger on the table. [Name] shook her head.
"No, actually. I like this a lot. It's cute." [Name] placed her cheek in her palm, trying to conceal the oncoming blush.
"Ah, um... I just wanted to show how much I cared for you; that's all." Their meal came, and they both dined, talking about trivial things.
"You know, someone from the daycare told me that you actually liked me. I was surprised, but I always liked you, too."
"That's great! Wow, um... This is a dream come true. Do you want to go on another date? Tomorrow?"
Rin walked [Name] home. They reached the gate, and he turned to face her. "So, tomorrow. I'll see you at the daycare, right?""Of course." [Name] smiled. Rin leaned forward and gave her a little kiss. [Name] giggled and finally broke away from the kiss. The front door slammed open, and a furious voice thundered upon them.
"[Name]! How dare you ruin your purity to be with a filthy man like that! Come inside at once. I forbid you to see him again." Father's voice boomed as he made his way to the gate.
Rin tried to explain himself. "No, I was just dropping [Name] home."
"Don't make excuses. [Name], come inside. You are not to see him anymore." Father grabbed [Name] by the arm and dragged her inside, leaving Rin out there alone.
[Name] was being scolded by Father and was sent to her room, forbidden to ever make contact with anyone outside the church. She laid in bed, stifling her sobs.
Her phone buzzed, and a text appeared on her phone.
"Do you want to run away?"
[Name] wiped her tears and stood. She opened the window in her room and stood on the sill. She probably wanted to run away anyways.
