As soon as my feet hit the ground, my body crumbled to it's knees. I could hear a distant popping noise through the sound of my own despair, and I realized that that noise had come from my own body. The ungodly noise was something I never wanted to hear again, and the pain was something I wish to never feel again. I couldn't help but to gasp for breath after such a painful moment.
My shoulders shook heavily, and I could feel my heart pounding in my ears. The side of my head throbbed, and my hair was soaked in unnatural amounts of sweat and grease. My fingertips ached from trying to grasp something to hold onto, the bottoms of my nails covered in a thick covering of dirt and squishy bark.
Every inch of my skin felt like it was engulfed in harsh, nipping flames. The splinters pricked out of my skin, but I couldn't see them...I could feel them. There was no way that I could crawl back into a different tree to take cover from anything, I was stuck on the ground until the wound at least scabbed over; and even then I don't think I could get up to my treehouse without a lot of difficulty.
I soon realized that I wouldn't be able to hold in my distressed noises, and screamed loudly, feeling my back to assess the damage. I flinched harshly as soon as my fingeres reached it, biting my lip to keep myself from being too loud; I had already hurt myself enough today, I couldn't be caught or found out by one of Pan's lost boys, or a hungry predator. Though I guess they're almost the same thing.
I moved my naturally blue hair out of the way of the blood so that it wouldn't be tainted a sickly red or crusted with dry scabs. Even though it was the least of my troubles at the moment, it would save me some trouble even if I was in the worst position possible.
I pulled my fingers back towards my face as fear took hold of every bone in my body; it was worse than I had thought. Blood coated my fingers in deep red colored liquid, and splintering wood stuck out in random places underneath my skin. The fingertip I had used to prod the injury was dripping ruby colored blood.
I took off my shirt, which was already falling off due to the huge rip that had found itself cutting the whole shirt in half, and tied it tightly around my back to help stop the blood. It wasn't much, but it would help a bit until I figured out what to do.
I then turned towards my legs and feet, an angry feeling of anxiety pulling at my gut. I was already in deep crap, and with a broken leg or foot it would only go downhill...pun intended...
My left leg seemed to be fine, only sporting a couple of deep scratches, but my right was slightly contorted to the left in a ghastly manner. I could see the bone poking out of place, but it still wasn't as bad as my back. At least it wasn't a major break, just an ankle; or at least that's what my subconscious told me so that I didn't freak.
After I checked the rest of myself, with quite some difficulty due to my other injuries, for any other existing "booboo"s, I looked around to see my surroundings.
I had fallen near a small path that looked like it was very certainly human made, and right next to it stood a tall, blooming dreamshade bush. There was a flower that oozed a deadly liquid, one that I knew better than to touch. That was a dreamshade flower, and if I got it in one of my open wounds I would be dead in less than a day.
Large green trees twisted their roots on some part of the path, all if them but the one behind me looking healthy. Of all the trees I could have jumped to, it had to be the dead one that broke? Just my luck.
I knew better than to stay out in the open with blood running down my back and an injured ankle, it would make me easy pray for any carnivore that came trotting along down the trail; so, to prevent getting mauled by an animal, I crawled over to a large tree that hid my body relatively well. My head rolled back onto the tree, my mind mulling continuously over how I would fix this.
