The colors surround me, in their different shades of brights, cools, darks, and everything in between. The voices surround me, pounding in on my soft, small ears like the loud sound of drums in a marching band. Tell me, where am I? For that matter, who am I, really? Humans, large ones, are constantly crowded around me, staring at me with large eyes and talking amongst themselves in strange gibberish that is impossible to understand. I keep on trying to talk to them, but they just laugh and smile whenever I make a sound. It's obnoxious.

Then one of them, a younger and female one by the looks of it, walks over to me with a bundle cradled in her lengthy, skinny arms. Then I realize what it contains. It's another human like me! It's a girl, like me, and I instantly smile and talk to her. But she just stares at me blankly and then starts giggling and talking in her own form of gibberish. This is all such a huge mess. Why can't we all talk the same? If this is really what life is like, never knowing what someone else is saying to you, constantly living in the dark, I don't see any point. Even people who cannot hear--there are other methods for conveying information. Maybe they could use physical gestures or something else. I don't really know, as I have never seen a person who cannot hear before. For that matter, I suppose I have not seen a lot of things before.

I will have to take on the unknown as they come, rather than hide from them and suffer the consequences later.
