"Ha ha ah ha! Of course I don't! Besides what do 'dragons' have to do with my parents? Are you avoiding my question?"
Dylan's voice grew stern.
Jim sighed again and stood up.
"Well I guess I was right. Your still too"
Jim paused in thought then added
"too immature."
"No. Wait. Are you actually serious?"
Dylan paused then said "do you actually believe in..." Dylan choked on The next word, "d-dragons? And did they take my parents?"
The corner of Jim's mouth curled into a half smile. "Oh yes Dylan I know they exist. And your parents weren't taken by them."
Dylan didn't know what to think. Was his grandfather crazy?! If the dragons didn't take his parents, then where were they?
"You did take your meds today didn't you?" Dylan raised his eyebrow suspiciously."I'm not crazy kiddo. If you don't believe me than come with me."
Jim walked out the front door. Dylan followed cautiously. The night air was cold and still and dew sparkled in the moonlight. Dylan rubbed at his bare arms trying to get rid of the cold. They walked down the garden path, to a small meadow surrounded by forest. "Watch the moon.",
Jim instructed, raising his head towards the creamy yellow disc in the sky amongst the black sky, littered with shimmering stars. Dylan looked up at the bright, full moon, feeling it's light explore his face. He cleared his throat and asked "Not that it's not pretty or anything but, what exactly are we looking at the moon for?"
Jim put a finger to his lip and quietly shushed Dylan. He whispered something so quietly Dylan wasn't sure if he heard him right.
"Keep watching."Dylan looked up again. About two minuets later, just before Dylan was about to officially declare is Grandad crazy, his eyes caught the movement of a large, winged creature fly across the moon. He fell back in horror. The cold, wet grass, soaking his pants through. Surely it was a bird. Or a bat or SOMETHING! Dylan felt dizzy, suddenly his vision blurred and shot into darkness.
