Raiyne lay curled on her cot, she was tiered physically, but her mind

was far from drowsy. Why could she not remember? She knew there ought

to be memories of her life, but when she tried to draw them up,

nothing appeared. It felt profusely wrong, there were people she had

forgotten, people who cared for her, people who loved her. And she

could not remember them. A small choke threatened to escape her

careful guard, but she would not show emotion to these people crowding

around her, she did not trust them. Confusion made her wrinkle her

brow, but why not? They had done nothing to harm her, they even seemed

happy to see her awake and responding. Goosebumps rippled across her

skin as she thought about how close she had come to death, it had been

so frightening.

A touch at her chin made her flinch.

" Its alright Rayine, you just need to drink some more. " Raiyne

looked up to see the old woman they called Hilda hovering above her

with a tin of water. Raiyne tried to sit up and take the tin, but

Hilda held her gently down, earning her a mild glare. This seemed to

only amuse her.

" If you sit up now, all the water you've been drinking will end up on

the floor. " Raiyne took the water and slowly sipped it, her stomach

already streached tight with the stuff. A rustling made her glance

over, to where the boy sat. The boy! Her heart started beating wildly

every time she saw him. He was real, not just a figment of her dreams,

she didn't know if this was a good thing. He was smiling broadly at

her, as was the pretty young girl sitting next to him. It was a little

bit creepy to be honest.

" Do I......know you two?" She asked carefully, a flare of hope in her

heart, maybe they were family.

" No child, you a stranger to us as much as we are strangers to you. "

The flare was extinguished as quickly as it had started. Of coarse

they didn't know her, they had asked who she was.

" Then could they please stop smiling? It puts me on edge." This made

them all laugh loudly, the sound horribly loud after her world of

silence. Hilda's eye first widened, then narrowed dangerously as Raiyne spoke, waves if hare and bitterness rolled of her, making Raiyne scoot farther away from her. The door of the healing house creaked open, and a huge man

with a shock of black hair blocked the sunlight from streaming in. The

boy went pale when he saw him and quickly turned away. Interesting.

Eric turned away from his father, and tried to concentrate on Raiyne

who was looking from his father to him with a slightly raised eyebrow.
