Skylar

I thought it was all just a dream, just a figment of my imagination. I repeated to myself over and over again that this was not happening, this does not exist.  I burst up out of my bed screaming and forming a cold sweat. It was just a dream, yet those sky blue eyes felt so real. I should have just listened to my own advice and not fallen asleep at my desk again. I look around my pale yellow room and then I look to the clock to find it's 6:30 am. I internally groaned, school is today meaning I have to go back to Big Spring Mountain High School. Just going back to my normal life, yet it's anything but normal. The town was built around this pack and everyone who lives here knows about the pack, meaning if anything pack business related were to happen, the school understood since half the teachers were part of the pack. I wish it was one of those days today.

I get ready for school before 7 meaning I could do a quick shift before I leave. I love when I am able to shift, so I set down my bag to go outside through the back door when I am suddenly stopped by my father saying,

" What do you think you are doing Skyar?"

I reply " I just want to get in a run before school. Is that too much?"

" Fine, but be back before 7:30 so I can drive you to school and make sure not to get to much dirt on you this time, you mother hates when you get dirt in the house."

" Thanks dad, be back soon."

I rush out the back door to face the woods surrounding my house. My parents chose this place so people wouldn't freak out when we shifted. I start taking off my clothes and then I felt my bones reforming. Each one snapping and popping into shape and before I know it, I am on four paws along with chestnut brown hair all over my body. I take off to the woods, weaving through the pine trees and feeling the warm soft dirt beneath my paws as I keep running. I open up to a clearing full of tall grass, and then I see it or should I say him.

A big midnight black wolf eyeing its next prey, a big brown buck. The wolf waits a few seconds hoping the buck didn't pick up on its scent which is a powerful aroma of dry autumn leaves. He then lunges at the buck's neck with his powerful legs and snap goes the bones. The scent of blood then fills the air. He drops the buck's neck and starts sniffing at the air, all the sudden his eyes land on me. His intense gaze takes me by surprise.

Sky blue eyes, reminding me of the dream from the previous night. I take off running hoping to get back to the house before the other wolf can catch me. What was I thinking about standing there? I should have listened to my father about other wolves. I didn't recognize him from the pack, and that made me even more scared. All the sudden I am on my back facing the other wolf. He does not move and all he does is stare at me with those eyes. I started to feel a tug at my heart, but why?

I caught whiff of her after making the kill in the clearing. She smelled like spring flowers just blooming mixed with vanilla. Then when I laid eyes on her, I knew I seen those green eyes before but I just didn't know where. They brought a calm over my body. She then took off running and I felt the need to go after her, my wolf said Go! Get her! I drop the buck's neck and take off at full speed after listening to what he said. Weaving through the trees was a little hard but once I see her I jump and was able to get her on her back. I look down at her and started to feel a tug at my heart for reasons unknown, my wolf wanted her very badly but I held him back for I didn't even know her. She wasn't someone from my pack. I very carefully ease off of her so I wouldn't hurt her and show I was not going to. The smell of shocked rolled off her and I bet she could smell the same thing on me as I realized what I have just done.

She gets up slowly staring me down seeing what I will do next. I then decide to shift out of my wolf form to face her after putting on some shorts. Afterwards, she then does the same going behind a tree and coming back in a tank top with shorts. I look her up and down taking in her chestnut brown hair, her like pale skin, her mild frame ,her height of about 5'8 which knew from being 6'6",  and then I looked into her eyes. I find her eyes to be the palest green and the longer I looked, the more realization I have of seeing them before, I just couldn't place it. She then gets my attention from thinking and asks,

"Who are you?"

I did not know what to say. I couldn't get over the fact I ran after her in the first place, but it seemed like the right thing to do so I replied,

" I am the alpha of the Blue River pack that just moved here. What's your name?"

"I am daughter of the alphas here, of the Big Mountain pack. Why are you here?"

" I needed somewhere to start over again with my pack after the last war, they need a new start to life."

"What war?" she asked.

"Rouges," I replied. "It brought a ton of heartache to our past pack lands which is why we moved."

" How old are you?"

" I am 18, you?"

"Aren't you a little young to be an alpha?"

"It wasn't a choice," I said reliving the memory of my father's death. Those rouges came out of nowhere over hundreds of them. Images of his limbs being torn off and....

"Hey," she interrupted. "Come with me, my parents would probably like to know of their being a new pack around here and helping you set up."

"I would appreciate that very much as well as my pack. I never asked, what is your name?"

" My name is Skylar, Skylar Morris. What is yours?"

I recognized the name, the Morris's packs was one of the largest and most powerful packs in the country.

I replied with "Luke Rivers, that's my name."

I still don't know where I also know her eyes from, but I feel like they are an endless pool. We start walking back to her house which only takes a couple of minutes. She takes me inside and stands in front of a man at the table who appeared very tall and burly just from sitting. She whispers to the man , the man whispers back and he turns to me. Steel grey eyes, staring straight into my soul.
