Two days.
It only took two days for Lay to drive himself crazy with thoughts of the blonde employee before he came up with a plan of how to see him again.
He was going to learn to cook.
But unfortunately, that meant he was going to have to ask for Chanyeol's help.
It took about another hour of arguing with himself about the matter before he exited his apartment and lightly knocked on the door straight across the hall from his.
He heard faint voices, then Baekhyun's getting louder, saying something like "Pause it, idiot... Someone's at the door." before said door was ripped open and he was met with the irritated face of the smaller of his two best friends.
As always, Baekhyun looked like perfection. His blonde hair currently had different tones of pink streaked through it, eyes rimmed with just the right amount of eyeliner, and he was wearing stylish skinny jeans and a trendy t-shirt‒which probably cost more than Lay's entire wardrobe‒that fit the smaller like a glove.
"Lay," Baekhyun rubbed the bridge of his nose, sighing deeply. "Why are you knocking again when you know the code and can just come in?"
Lay's eyes drifted to the keypad lock sheepishly, then back up to the other male. He gave a small apologetic smile, and shrugged his shoulders.
Baekhyun tisked like an ajumma does when admonishing a naughty child, then grabbed Lay by the shirt and pulled him inside before slamming the door shut.
Never releasing his hold on the other's shirt, Baekhyun dragged the older to their living room and shoved him down onto the couch next to Chanyeol without a word.
Chanyeol only had on boxers and an old t-shirt, a remote clutched in one hand, and a drink in the other. That, mixed with his crazy hair, which almost always looked like he had just woken up‒no matter how hard he tried to tame it‒caused the tall male to look like a classic couch potato.
The drastic difference between the two roommates was very wide, and it would cause most people to wonder how they got along so well, but Lay knew that it was because they were such opposite that the two worked so well.
Baekhyun needed someone to fuss over; he needed someone to nag and care for so that he felt like he had a purpose and was useful.
And Chanyeol needed someone who would push him, motivate him to do things he didn't deem necessary, but that were‒like doing homework, showering daily, and wearing something other than pajamas when he left the house.
Their friendship was odd, but well balanced.
"You forgot to use the keypad again, didn't you?" Chanyeol asked with a goofy smile, looking from Baekhyun's slightly irritated face, to Lay's submissive demeanor.
Assuming that it was a rhetorical question, Lay didn't respond. Instead, he settled into the couch and watched Baekhyun whine to Chanyeol to put the movie back on, while the younger teased him by saying he wasn't ready yet and pretended to get more comfortable by wiggling around in his spot.
Lay tried to sit quietly and let them finish their movie before he asked for help, but he felt too restless inside. Getting up, he went to the fridge and got a cold drink, then sat back down.
