Sorry and Confused-Chapter 4

It had been two days since the dinner, I woke up that Sunday morning to the smell of coffee and the faint sound of Nicole singing. I pushed the covers away from my body and swung my legs over the bed, making my way downstairs and sitting in the living room. I looked out the window and took in the morning London sunlight.

“Morning love!” Nicole greeted me, smiling as she took a spot next to me on the couch.

“Morning, since when do you drink coffee?” I chuckled at her and nodded to her mug.

“I,” she looked down at her mug “have no idea, your damn American ways rubbed off on me I guess.” She laughed and gave me the mug.

I breathed in the smell and took a small sip, enjoying the taste.

“So, when are you and Niall going to talk?” She looked at me, a serious look captured her face

“I have no idea, I mean, we need to do it soon but I’m not sure when exactly.” I said, trying to avoid her gaze, but it was no use.

“Well why not today in the afternoon. Just ask him if he’s doing anything and bring him over here.” She suggested, and I took it into consideration, I mean she was right, I knew I had to do it soon.

*Niall’s P.O.V*

I was laying on the couch with Harry and Louis on the other, they were giggling at each other and I smiled at my two best mates.

I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket and I pulled it out, the number was unknown so I didn’t answer.

“Who was that?” Harry asked, throwing his legs over Louis’s

“I have no idea, their number was unknown.” I said, tossing my phone back in my pocket

I felt it vibrate again and I pulled it out to see a text message.

Unknown Number: hey, Niall. It’s me Autumn. Give me a call back when you get the chance please. It’s important

My heart skipped when I realized I just ignored her call.

“Shit!” I shouted, jumping up from my position on the couch and running upstairs to my room. I pressed redial and sat on my bed waiting for her to pick up.

“Hello?” her voice on the other line sounded shaky, it made my heart skip but I wasn’t sure if it was with from nervousness or the sound of her voice still had that effect on me.

“Hey Autumn it’s Niall, I’m sorry about not answering your first call. It’s just I didn’t have your number saved.” I said in one breath, trying to justify my actions.

“It’s okay, I understand. I mean if I was just ditched someone out of the blue I would erase their number too.” I heard her mumble. I felt guilt consume me, that’s not what happened at all it’s just…

“No, no that’s not happened. I just lost my contacts in my phone one day and never got them back.” I said, making up some excuse as to why I deleted her number

Truth was, when I was drunk and thought her and Zayn had something going on I wasn’t thinking straight and deleted it, cursing her name while I did it.

But I couldn’t tell her that.

“Oh, well I was just wondering what you were doing today.” She piped up, I could tell she was hesitant in her voice.

“Nothing at all, the lads and I have got a couple of weeks off.” I said, falling back on my bed and laying my hand on my stomach

“Oh, great. I was wondering if you wanted to come over…or I could go over their…so we could um,” I heard her sigh loudly and take in a deep breath. I remained silent nervous for her words “talk.” She finished, letting out a shaky breath
